We've been exploring the deep sea in our last video as well. Less on the riches in the floor but more on the bizarre creatures that can be found there. We should do a collab on a similar topic at some point!

The real riches in the ocean are the several undiscovered species for me... I’m a marine biology major and it’s my goal to discover new species

Ah. Glad to know those weird lumpy rocks in Subnautica are real things.

Can't wait for the headlines in 30 years exposing how much damage we did to the ocean for the sake of batteries.

I always learn something of interest in SciShow talks. But what amazes me most is how ALL the presenters can talk without take a breath!

Scientist A: Hey uh, how are we gonna name them?
Scientist B: What? You mean these massive sulfide deposits?
Scientist A: Oh my god, you’re a _genius_ :OO

Not just because it's rare and super slow forming but also that it's been there from millions of years where extremophiles live, which can make it safe enough to say that the evolution and survival of such extremophiles and other oceanic organisms is likely to be linked with mineral deposits in the ocean, whose extinction might cause serious problems.

The biggest task is figuring out how to gather this rich material without destroying the environment.
