Canon EOS R1 quick look around the flagship!

Amateur photographers these days often judge the quality of a camera solely by its megapixels, shutter speed, and burst rate, showing a lack of depth in their understanding. However, professional sports and news photographers prioritize "reliability, " "manageable file sizes, " and "durability." Despite having an electronic shutter as fast as the mechanical shutter of the EOS-1D X Mark III, it still includes a mechanical shutter, likely for flicker reduction essential for professionals. Unlike a certain N-brand that prioritizes catalog specs and eliminates the mechanical shutter, which is not befitting of a flagship camera, professionals value practical usability. If you were a professional sports photographer, you would use a camera that emphasizes AF, the most crucial aspect of photography, even if it doesn't have the same impact as an EOS R1.

In a world full of loud voices skwakin about specs, Canon have released a legacy. The R1 is the culmination of specifications we used to be impressed by in a nearly indestructible, incredibly reliable package that caters to what you need to do photography in demanding situations and gives us even better AF than you have ever used. This camera gets the shot. Sony can wow us, Nikon can shock us, Olympus is doing things and Canon makes reliable professional cameras. Not social media talking points.

Shoulda at least made it 40 mp at the least just seems like the better option would be the r5 mk 2

A flagship camera imo means it should be versatile enough to shoot anything, and I don’t think I’d use it for everything if I had it

It’s too bulky, usually I go out to touch some grass with my r6 ii and 24-105 f/4, and it already feels like going to a gym, can’t imagine how heavy it is with this big chunk, and it’s too expensive.

AF is good in photo mode... but noone is talking about video features.. thats wierd in 2024.. what are they hiding

GREAT sports and action camera. But "flagship?" No. It's 2024. You can't have a 24MP flagship in 2024. 24MP is mid-range resolution.
