I literally don't remember the 2000's D&D movie even existing...and at that point in my life, I was going to the movies once a week 😅

this is how you know I really don't know Dungeons & Dragons I was born in 98. so I would have been around when this older version came out. I neither grew up playing, knowing or even seeing that movie let alone the actual game. I'm basically in the same boat as when Arcane came out. I know nothing until I see the movie.

I love the 2000 movie and I still have it on VHS. It is still my favorite of the four movies so far and the new one (while it is better in more ways than one) the original just feels better to me.

one more thing in the newer one was that's a chest monster? I saw someone open a chest and it had teeth. is that where that comes from? the whole time it was Dungeons & Dragons? I remember seeing on Minecraft mod that had the exact same idea I think actually at least two did. there was one where you go to the Aether and then there's a different one and like the chest could randomly be a chest monster. I should point out that I don't recall seeing a Dungeons & Dragons mod but who the heck knows it's probably a thing

I haven't seen the new movie yet but I can almost guarantee the villain isn't going to be a entertaining as Jeremy Irons as Profion, everything else I'm inclined to agree with

I liked the original. Yes the CGI was bad. Marlon Wayans was the soul of the movie. Michelle Rodríguez the sould of the 2023 movie.

also I have two questions number one was that Hugh Grant as one of the villains? and my eyes might be mixing it up but was that also Marlon Wayans in the older version?

Mazes and Monsters was better, it clearly showed how EVIL this game is!

The 2000 version felt like an actual D&D movie, whether that is a compliment or not, while this latter version could have ANY fantasy title slapped on it and it would blend in with the rest of the bargain bin trash 🤦🏼‍♂️🤷🏼‍♂️
