Ive inbserted checkboxes and when checked I would like a "Y" or a "YES" in another colunm to pop up, how would I do that ?

Hi, how would you make a checked box (TRUE) a different colour from when it's unchecked (FALSE)?
A colleague sent me a document where the checked box has an unfitting colour and I can't figure out how to change it.
