Do Driving Examiners have to Fail a Certain number of Learner Drivers? | DTC Driving Test UK

Since the driving test first started in 1935, learner drivers have been worried about the practical driving test. One of the things that learner drivers worry about is the pass rate quota. We hear all sorts of strange stories about why a learner driver should not take their practical driving test on a Friday or at the end of the month, usually because the driving examiner has run out of pass certificates.

There are even stories that appear on Google News about a few driving examiners who have spoken out after being fired for passing too many learner drivers.

So, what is the situation? Is there a pass quota?

This channel is a great tool for anyone attending a driving test at any Driving Test in the UK. It covers extra things that a learner can do to impress a driving examiner.

Im still in shock did my driving test on 19 july and the old man was not even putting anything in the ipad
.i practised so well and was very cautious. When i got to the centre he said i failed because on one occasion j didnt park close enough to the kerb ...that the space between my wheels and kerb is enough for a cyclist to squeeze in.
After taking me through so many busy roundabouts and motorways?
Racism is still a big bdeal in uk ? For God sake its the same blood flowing through our veins.
I work so hard to safe life irrespective of their colour with so much exposure to radiation.
I have seen lots of young lads with licence who are danger on the road, i often look in disbelief when brotish folks who passed tell me some mistakes they made on their driving test and they were passed.
Gosh this is messing up with my mental health

You have explained yourself in the words that there isn't any quota but actual understanding of the system states different that THERE IS A QUOTA.

I think this is very true as I failed my test for the second time in august when I wasn't even asked to do an eyesight test beforehand, I think certain examiners just want you to fail

I do not understand how it is possible that in this country they give all the power to a single person to decide if you pass or not, many examiners pass whoever they want and others, due to a simple mistake fail you, mistakes that even people who have years driving make, a few days ago talking to my driving teacher, he told me that this is true and that a few days ago in Mitchan they passed a person having made a big mistake in a roundabout, he tells me that it all depends if you likes them or no or it depends on what day the examiner had, for me that is completely unfair especially because of how expensive the lessons are and your time invested, I think that the time the damn examiner failed me was due to discrimination because of my accent and because my English is not excellent. My driving teacher told me that next time I will take the test, go with him so that there is a witness

you take advantage of corruption...if justice would be served you would have no problem filming or in case of winning appeal to chance the result. unjust result should be corrected and you would have to pay moral compensation. then you would not fail people for sports

There is definitely a quota. I dont believe all examiners pass everyone who deserve to especially if you get a test later in the week. I would say to anyone going their test be confident and be safe. 100% i believe that if examiners pass too many, they will be either struck off and reprimanded. I personally think there should be cameras in the car to test the real competency of examiners and learner drivers. I hope theres a petition or media campaign for this. Alot of examiners base things on liking someone rather than being fair. Dont bother with appeals process is also trash. They get back to you very late say you can take legal action to a cost out of your own pocket.

That's not true, my wife did a perfect run and she still failed, I was in the car with them, and the reason the examiner invoked was that she setoff without looking, which was on an empty one way street
