The most unbelieable thing about this movie is not magic or cheesy romance but the journalist giving them privacy lmao

What I like a lot about this movie is that both Penelope and Max/ Johnny grow outside of one another. Penelope runs away and gains her independence, new friends and self- acceptance, and Max kicks his gambling addiction and is slowly starting to become a more responsible and honest adult. When they meet again, it's because they've both grown separately that they are able to be together. It wasn't either one that 'fixed' the other. I feel like Edward's 'redemption' was a little rushed and felt more of a show of Penelope's kindness rather than Edward genuinely realizing he made a mistake, but that's my only real gripe with the film.

I love how the journalist sees Penelope and realizes she’s just a girl and not a monsters, so he doesn’t want to make a story of her being a monster because it’s unfair. It’s kinda sweet.

I'm actually impressed by the amount of well-known celebrities starring in the movie. Not your typical Disney storyline: I like the fact she cured herself by finding herself and went out to find him. Not heard of this movie before. Wonder why.

I think they were too dramatic and she was actually pretty lmao.

This is probably one of the most complex stories I have ever heard. The parents were stupid, she didn't look ugly, the curse was a fake really and the guy who liked her caused his own problems. I am so glad I don't have to watch it since I've seen this. I am really enjoying these recaps - saves me so much watching time.

you forgot to mention that the father lived much happier after Jessica was cursed with silence.
and took every chance to enjoy it.

Dude, fuckin’ what? Christina Ricci, James McAvoy, Russel Brand, Reese Witherspoon, Peter Dinklage, Catherine O Hara, Nick Frost, and Richard E Grant?! Craziest cast for an indie flick, how was the budget for this thing only 15 mil with all this big name talent attached?

I never watched this movie because I thought it would be a cheesy romantic movie. I was wrong. It's actually kind of nice. I also like the way you tell story because you don't left any point behind. It feels like watching movie.

This movie drove me crazy cuz she doesn’t look like a monster at all. She’s really actually pretty and just has a funny looking nose- I wouldn’t scream and run away at the sight of her

My twin and I watched this movie so many times, it's her favorite. She even had an old pig stuffed animal that she named Penelopy after this character.

This is one of my fav movie of all time. Penelope learned to accept herself, her mum learned her lesson too, johnny got his ducks in a row, lemon's obsession with the big story had the anticlimactic yet proper ending it deserved, even edward wasn't just a one-dimensional character and had struggles of his own. a very refreshing subversion of the cursed princess needing rescue by a prince fairytale.

Penelope was ahead of its time. During the era it was released, films tend to have the leading ladies be rescued by some useless guy. In here, Penelope saved herself. Today that's the trend, but back then it was not. So it's a pretty big deal.

This is just like that time they put glasses on Anne Hathaway and tried to convince us that she wasn't pretty 😂😂

this came on autoplay and near the end i decided to see just how terrifying her face was, thinking it might be something like from the witcher, but she's still really pretty by traditional standards of beauty, smh

I love the idea that the witch spent years chasing and tackling rich boys as a butler
