What if the fire scene, instead of dying by the lake by Holly's paws, filled with so many emotions and being in distraught, Squirrel leaps forward to attack Ashfur without thinking, rolling into Ashfur on the tree log as it cracks under the weight before he loses his footing and falls into the fire below and dies there. Some starts of the Squirrelstar AU because she deserves it and Ashfur deserves to die, me and my homies HATE Ashfur

Hollyleaf still tells the clan they are not Squirrel's kits but takes the blame for the murder instead because she lovers her mom and because Adopted/Found family is real family fuck you Erin's

Oh shit! I have a very similar AU! Only a few things changed- but also Shrewpaw returns because Thornclaw couldn't retrieve his body, the twolegs did and he became a kittypet but eventually pulled a Greystripe and left to find the clan, finding Squirrelflight around this time- she divorces Bramblestar and she and Shrewpaw (then named Shrewhaze) get together and it warms my soul

It always bothered me SO much to see how against adopted families the erins are. You see it in DotC and power of three plus more that I forgot about. When I was young and “you’re adopted” was a insult and I was reading the books it was just reinforcement on the idea adoption is a negative thing. Anyways I know I’m late but I love this sm, great job : D

squirrelflight has been my favorite warriors character ever since i first read the new prophecy back in like... grade 5 or 6 i think? imho she’s one of the best-written characters in the entire series and she just... deserved so much better. i honestly wish she killed ashfur to protect her adopted children. don’t even get me started on squirrelflight and bramblestar’s relationship. honestly, fuck ashfur and fuck bramblestar. i actually have an au where bramble goes through with killing firestar and becomes leader. basically he becomes the main antagonist (and ashfur takes part in his schemes) and squirrelflight kills him during the battle against the dark forest and becomes thunderclan’s leader. ANYWAY king i literally love this animatic so much. you’re improving so quickly and your art is always such a treat to look at :)

“Squirrelflight deserves better AU, ” in which she
1) absolutely does NOT become mates with Brambleclaw, just stops courting Ashfur and realizes she can be her own cat.
2) does not get guilted into taking Leafpool’s/Crowfeather’s kits (she’s her own cat! why should she care about being barren?), instead they’re claimed as “abandoned kittens” and the clan as a whole raises them together.
3) bramblestar and squirrelflight are platonic, working leader/deputy rather than the wretched, toxic power imbalance a romantic relationship would hold. purely work-focused folk here, cats!
4) squilf acts as the three’s most close caretaker, basically an aunt. still have that nice “found family” type stuff, oh yeah.
5) squilf fucking kills ash, no questions asked, they may be the clan’s kits first but they’re HER kits second.

It has been literal ages since I've read this series but all I remember about Ashfur is that he was an a**hat. This AU should have been canon tbh, especially the scene where Squirrelflight absolutely just FLINGS Ashfur to the fiery death that he got here, what a queen (also YES ERINS ADOPTED=REAL FAMILY I WILL REALLY GO TO COURT AGAINST YOU ABOUT THIS)

I can't tell whether or not at the end if Hollyleaf tells the clan that she had killed Ashfur instead, or if Hollyleaf had told the clan that Squirrelflight killed Ashfur. Both situations I could see Squirrelflight crying out in protest as seen in 0:36 (If thats Squirrelf, that might be Leafpool. I am unsure). But other than that, this is a fkin amazing animatic. I like to see more!

I know everyone else is saying this but ashfur is extremely lucky squirrel had that wound on her stomach bc I know for a fact that she would have DESTROYED him. she cares abt her babies and her family so much. (also thank u for including the adopted/found family bit. it's always pissed me off that the erins portrayed that as not mattering/not the same as blood family, which is stupid)

I am gonna be completely honest when I first read this scene I cried just because I felt horrible of the position squirrelflight was in, if she didn’t tell the truth and make it clear she felt nothing then she would have watch the children she loves and raise die only in the end for one of them to die anyways and the other two to shun her, I love squirrelflight becauses she’s a constant reminder that blood isn’t everything and at the time it made the connection with my step mom that much stronger even if I was scared to let myself be cared about. This is an amazing creation thank you for your dedication
