It's great that you kind of ranked codwars, cracking the code, and leetcode in terms of difficulty. Gotta know which barbell weighs 20kg when you're learning to squat so you don't accidentally pick the 200kg out of the rack and wonder why you cant' budge it.

I absolutely despise the tech interview process. From recruiters to the actual interview it's not a fun process.

You are not beating around the bush, You're burning it and without a holier than thou or a savior mentality. Jeez! man, You're a piece of work. I really feel grateful for your presence.

Hey, thank you for the videos! I am currently in a coding bootcamp and it is nice to see someone who had gone through a coding bootcamp without a CS degree land a job at a company like Uber. Gives me hope and inspiration!

Your video format with just real information and no nonsense is quite unique on youtube, no matter the category. Thank you so much for posting these, really valuable to someone like me who's aiming to shift my career from non tech to being a developer.

Thank you for this advice, yeah I was doing maybe 1 or 2 leetcode/codewars problems a day and while I learned a lot from the solutions I was feeling frustrated because I was learning so slow. After seeing your advice I'm going to keep a timer for 20 minutes and if I can't solve it then I'll skip to the solutions.

thank you for this! have been feeling so overwhelmed with what I need to do to prepare and finally I feel like I have a plan 😎

I like this roadmap a lot. It gives you gradual progress and does not overwhelm you if you are a beginner. One thing I need to point out though. Do not try to learn Algorithm and Data Structure from Cracking the Code Interview Book. That book is not intended to teach you the ins and outs of Algo and DS. I recommend you substitute the toy problem interview course Aaron suggested with an actual Algorithm and Data Structure course on Udemy (Or if you want to be thorough, try both). Once you know the fundamentals of Algo/DS, you won't dive into Cracking the Coding Interview book and feel like a total dumb.

Great video, this is my first time hearing about code wars. I’ll definitely give it a try

Thank you for being the first person I've seen justify the "reverse engineering" process of learning complex algorithm and toy problems solutions.

That's a really well-done synthesis of full-stack overview

Yes, the worst advice I think is to just try your hardest to figure something out as long as possible. It's basically pattern recognition that you're being tested on (for most people), so you need to start gathering patterns. I'd argue that struggling makes you frustrated and/or clouds your brain w/ more junk when you can get the answer and include that as another tool in your bag.

1. Codewars (*surrender method)
2. Interview bootcamp through Udemy
3. Cracking the Coding Interview, the book
4. Leetcode (Easy problems, categories Strings + Arrays, DStru&Algo, and use the IOEA method)

Perhaps you can update this video to reflect the changes to the Leetcode website? It looks like they've split up the categories into Tags now, so Strings and Arrays and separate, and there is no Data Structures and Algorithms tag, instead split into more specific subcategories. I'm still at stage 1, so I'm not really sure which tags fall under that category. Anyways, might not be that big a deal to figure out once you've reached that level and have a good familiarity with the material.

Great video as always.

I am actually in the process of prepping for job interviews.

Thanks 🙏 now I have an action plan for success.

The way you expressed the programming problems as “toy problems” is making me feel easy to learn 😊

I came out with an exact approach. Came here, saw the video and gave me the necessary reassurance!
