This Simple Quantum Experiment Will Rewrite Physics

Quantum mechanics is no less than magic and the latest experiment proves this statement. Physicists have demonstrated a quantum effect that turns matter invisible. The effect is based on the fundamental principle of quantum physics: Pauli's exclusion principle. It is called Pauli Blocking and was proposed decades ago. But back then, we did not have advanced technology to demonstrate it.

Although the enhanced applications of this effect seem to be theoretical at present, such small steps can play a significant role in controlling the working of the atomic world. Also, these experiments have strengthened our hopes of achieving invisibility in the future, although at quantum scales to begin with.

This video feels like a huge misinterpretation of the actual topic. What the papers discuss (it’s basically one „science“ paper (extremely good), and the other two are arxives) is the experimental proof of pauli blocking for fermi gases, which has nothing to do with invisibility. You will always have electrons at the Fermi energy that can absorb light, but the number of electrons that can be excited reduces significantly for lower temperatures, thus, the transmission increases. Also cooling a solid down to milli Kelvins is achievable for quite a while now, using so-called dilution refrigerators (which is a different method of cooling and not applicable for gases). But of course you see that even at super low temperatures still a lot of light gets absorbed because these simple electron transitions are not the only way a solid (not a Gas) can absorb photons. It doesn’t make any sense to speak about invisibility in this context and notably also the paper doesn’t.

this isnt gonna "rewrite physics" its literally what scientists predicted, so its literally following our current system of physics lol

1:47' No' It's like saying twins can occupy the same room but not the same space in that room!

So what I got from this is: If I'm extremely cool but I'm under a lot of pressure, suddenly no one will see me. Got it.

(Humor aside: Thank you for this. That was fun.)

Sigh...

Invisible means "unable to be seen with visible light"

What you describe is NOT invisibility. The photons would need to pass through either undisturbed or to be absorbed on one side and emitted by another with the same energy to be invisible.

Basically; Black holes are not invisible either - their extreme absorption of light makes them very visible against light sources as they end up "blocking" the light behind them.

Now, you cannot densify a human but even if you could, having a human shaped shadow walking around is not invisibility.

I have not bothered watching video as it looked pretty sketchy to me. Went strait to comments and they confirmed this. I don't want to support these types of videos made by someone who has the talent do so, but has not concern as to whether their content is accurate.... they just want the revenue.

Anyway if it were even possible for a human to be invisible
Said human would be blind as there would be no light to reach the retina

Edit: this is true as light has to reflect off of the retina for you to see it, but light cannon reflect off of the retina if there appears to be nothing there.

I don't like when it's cold, so I'd better be visible.

One of the first times I've had to correct anything on the channel.
The footage of the superconductor isn't stock footage- it's from NileRed's video on making them

I wonder if this could explain dark matter. Matter in space that is so cold that light simply passes through it, thus why we can’t see it.

I am pretty sure there is a hell of a lot more than a quadrillion atoms in that cubic centimeter. There is Avogadro's number in X grams of it, where X is the atomic weight. I don't know of any stable element that is so massive as to only have a quadrillion of them in a cubic centimeter unless they are a hot gas, and that doesn't sound super cooled at all.

So these brilliant scientists took GAS, which is already invisible, and tried to make it invisible, but failed. I see a Nobel prize coming, also invisible.

Don't we have invisible gases like oxygen, Nitrogen etc. Air is invisible.

That "Pauli Blocking" really sounds like a great candidate for dark matter..?

This sounds like "Dark Matter"

If the experiments confirmed the hypotheses generated by the theory, I suggest that physics should not be rewritten.

Most excellent! We really appreciate it. A Fermi Sea sounds like my summer vacation spot.
Peace.
