Collage Animation in After Effects (Tutorial)

Collage animations have a special place in my heart. I haven’t done them much but I love watching them! So today I decided to try recreating one that caught my eye recently. It took a lot longer than expected but I had a lot of fun playing around with it.

Thank you so much!! I love mixed media and collage animations, and I've been searching for good tutorials on this style for years. Most tutorials are extremely basic (teaching the same simple techniques that every other collage tutorial shows), and they definitely don't cover cool transitions between scenes. Loved the tutorial, collage-style is definitely my favorite aesthetic to work with, precisely because of its eccentricity.

Here's a tip on how to remove the black background from videos of explosions, dust, smoke, volumetric light, etc. You can use the <Shift Channels> effect, configured as <Take Alpha from Luminance>, and apply <Remove Color Matting> to smooth the transition between the grayish tones. In some cases, it works even better than the blending modes. I saw this tip on a recent Indian foreign channel! It's worth giving it a try! Success, dude!!!
