Great point on making sure that we're not creating a point of view just by reading a headline

1st off nobody gets kicked off due to this as seats are booked long in advance for flights. Especially any special needs or special requests. 2nd it's not a freestanding. They have a right to travel like everyone else. Just like businesses that don't accommodate wheelchairs, or even have ramps, it's illegal to charge extra or deny service to someone for "being different" than others. Most, yes by their own doing, have physical disability plus heart & lung issues. So a gains the disability act to not accommodate them. Most people with cardio issues, liver, kidney issues it's self inflicted also by years of unhealthy diet, alcohol, smoking etc yet people don't judge them. No I'm not overweight. I have health issues relating to systemic lupus & severe arthritis and advocate for all

You can be empathetic, while also encouraging change. Life is harder in a lot of other ways already when you are obese. I have noticed an ingrained culture of people brining biased and mean about it.

Yes, overweight people can make a change and loose weight. As a coach, you know that making meaningful change and having an obese person lose weight until they have a healthy one could be a multi-year process. Being able to fly in between would be fair wouldn’t it?

Mental health as in underlying problem with obesity is a common theme. Making obese people feel that their life should be harder is a bit contrasting in healing those issues.

Like I said in your Instagram post. It should never push someone else of the flight either when it is fully booked. The way it works in most airlines is that you pay double, and make sure the two seats are booked. If the airline wants to refund for this reason that is a kindness.
