This video was EXTREMELY helpful for me. I just want to add a couple of shortcuts that you can take, if you want to. But I do understand why the guys did it the way that they did, because there are reasons that the way they did it is simpler. The first time that I did this job I followed exactly how they did it in the video. Unfortunately I (foolishly) did not follow the advice that they gave which was to also replace the CVVT sprockets. Because it turns out THAT was really my issue. So I had to do this entire job AGAIN a few days later. The second time I skipped a couple steps. First I did not drop the oil pan. I just removed the four bolts that go from the timing cover into the oil pan. I didn't even bother draining all the oil lol, just a little so it wouldn't drip out. But either way I did not want to reseal the oil pan that I had just resealed, so I did not drop it, and it worked out fine. Also, the second time I did not remove the water pump. It isn't necessary. Although you do need to remove the water pump pulley. Just a couple tips if someone wants to take a shortcut.

Hello guys thank you for the incredible videos. I have a 2011 Hyundai Elantra limited. I actually changed the tensioner, chain, and guides. After putting everything I still am getting the same sound. What could cause this? Do you think it could camshaft gear sprocket?

I'm quite surprised you didn't install new guides. They are super cheap and had to have been grooved if the original chain was slacked

I’d never replace a chain without guides

well done showing how it's done! i will attempt to fix it. it will also be helpful to say what are the sumptoms, telltale signs / sounds / etc.. of what leads to this fix. I believe it's starting it and the it feels like the starter is not engaging the engine, just whining away but not turning it would be a first sign?
