That's fundamentally a different perspective though. The first one, you're looking at the palm front on, the second one, you're looking at it from the side.

I am a artist myself and i use what i call a "base drawing" i use circles for the joints and sideways x's on the head and chest parts at different angles to show where to draw and help with perspective then i use normal lines to attach the circles and make body sizes and then lastly i do the face and some more tips when using my tricks make sure to keep the base drawing as simple as possible otherwise you might burn yourself out to much for the drawing itself, another tip is for how you make it on different types of things like paper you'll want to use a normal or mechanical pencil and draw lightly so that you can erase it once you've finished the line art and on phone, tablet ect. Turn down the capacity so that when doing line art your drawing won't mix with your base drawing also make sure to put the base drawing on a different slide, layer whatever it's called with what program you use when doing the line art so that your able to remove the base drawing afterwards, happy drawing!

If this method is hard to use you can use cylinders with curved lines in the direction the arm is going

A tip to add to what he said: think of the upper and lower arms as ovals in different orientations. Lower arm should be vertical, and upper arm should be horizontal.
