Why Do Mechanics HATE BMW?

There are more than a few reasons why mechanics hate BMW cars. There are good reasons that their cars have been designed this way, but it does result in many mechanics being frustrated and concerned about the vehicles.

Why #mechanics #hate #BMW is not a mystery to me, and after this video, you're going to understand this issue fully!

My mechanic specializes in Mercedes-Benz and BMW. When I asked why so many mechanics hate BMW he said, “ I love BMWs. They make me a ton of money!”

Mechanics Love Them. They break too often! More profit to the shop.

My friend knew someone who worked in repairs for bmw.
After working there he said he’s never buying any of those cars ever.

The truth is that these types of cars are aimed at people who have a lot of money. They are designed with a lot of "plastic" BECAUSE IT IS CHEAPER. Of course they are not going to sell you a cheap BMW, they want to make more money. They make it so complicated for you to turn to their authorized dealers, so that they charge you a lot of money. They use specialized tools, so you have no choice but to turn to these thieves. And when you wear a piece of plastic, it costs you more than gold itself. It's all about making a car "as cheap as possible" and selling it "as expensive as possible." They don't care about quality anymore. But if you like to throw away your money, go a head and buy a car like this.

Totally correct! Mechanics that don´t have much experience on BMW, should NOT be touching them!

I’m a mechanic and love working on BMW no matter how old abused of neglected all of the repairs I’ve had to do have been very simple to do. I think the mechanics you are talking about are just parts replacers. I see a lot of people just throw money at them and never do a proper diagnosis.

I'm a mechanic, BMW enthusiast and owner. The workshop I'm at doesn't specialise in Euro cars but we do see a lot of them for servicing and repairs, I always get given the more difficult jobs, I don't mind. BMWs really aren't that hard to work on and anyone complaining otherwise needs to update/improve their knowledge and skill set. I'm not "factory trained" by any manufacturer, the internet is an amazing tool and if you're capable of using that in your pursuit of successful outcomes you really shouldn't have problems training yourself. In fact, my trade qualification is as a heavy equipment diesel mechanic, but my passion is not for trucks and earthmoving equipment, I'm a car guy, I made great money over the last 20 years working on the big stuff now I'm just cruising along as a workshop foreman in a general car workshop and I'm the happiest I've ever been.

I understand the reasons why mechanics dislike them. As for myself, I just can't stand all the plastic crap for an expensive car. I like to work on German cars. Maybe because I like a challenge or spend a lot money to suffer.

Prior to reaching the age of reason, I was a 90's BlaMeW owner. Modern BMWs are overpriced, overweight, and made from cheap junk quality parts.. Japanese cars use plastic too, but their designers are smart enough to know which components can be made from thermoplastic and which components must be designed with more durable material.

You sound like a BMW apologist. There are established patterns and practices for car maintenance, some have been around for years, some for decades. Designers violate those patterns and practices at their risk and at the manufacturer's risk. In the case of auto manufacturers, the risk is to resale value of their cars and the hit that puts on new car sales. Look at the resale of values of BMW, Mercedes, Bentley, Jaguar and compare them to resale values of Toyota and Lexus. Toyota engineered vehicles usually follow established engineering design patterns so the cars tend to not break and when they do, they're relatively easy and inexpensive to repair => very good resale value.
Bottom line: Mechanics hate BMWs because they're difficult and expensive to repair. The fault isn't with the mechanics, its with the designers and engineers who arrogantly assume the world will bend to adjust to their whims.

My experience owning out of warranty BMWs is that it is as expensive as owning a new one. Used car loan + maintenance costs > Leasing a new one

You know it's more complex when changing a battery can be an issue. An regular consumer should be able to do that. What is next you can't change your tires without a mechanic...

Sadly, I can’t even get a non-BMW mechanic to do basic suspension work on my 328i. Most mechanics have enough work to keep them busy and just don’t want to fuss with Bimmers.

I still don't get how BMW made rod bearings a normal wear item 🤣.
Bmws can be awesome but alot of the little issues cost a fortune. And the big issues also cost a furtune.

I heard somewhere that BMs are complex than NASA spaceship 🚀. So you can’t blame poor mechanics. BMs are designed to be complex to milk 🥛 more out of their users.

There will always be a difference of opinions about being experienced or unexperienced to work on these nightmares. I've had what some would call throwaway cars that were more reliable than these leaking things. The fact that people pay so much for these cars, have routine maintenance performed and still have to pay for multiple faults of these cars with less than 100K. I'll take my chances with a YUGO before getting another. Look fancy money pit.

I personally own a 2008 E90 it’s been a great car all the way around. Never had any cooling issues, Valve cover leak, oil pan leak, I have owned since it was new I have 280, 000 miles and still going strong .

This man deserves more viewers and subscribers. Honest guy with great knowledge regarding vehicles. People just don't understand what goes into making a car and how much R&D goes into making one so you can't simply bash brands just because they aren't simple and easy to work on. It's just that BMW and other advanced luxury car brands are highly engineered made for giving an truly exceptional driving experience.
