This is the only English adaptation of this song that captures the meaning of the lyrics. Especially when talking about the lyric before the chorus, many English covers sing something along the lines of, "I don't want to live." The lyrics aren't meant to sound suicidal, rather they mean that there's more to life than just surviving. Thank you Shawn for capturing that.

A cold iron bullet's enough proof of justice.
When I pulled the trigger I felt like I could be the hero.
If you close your eyes and reach out in that moment.
The evil lies within all the same body and the temperature.
Am I not good enough? Is he better for you?
I couldn't see through the wall I couldn't find a way.
Don't shed a tear for this destiny that we're born with.
We'll fly far away now because we are all free!

If we can spread our wings
Like birds up in the sky
We could go anywhere, we could dream of.
If we can't return home
The place we call our own
We jus might have nowhere to go
It's not enough to just survive and live this life.

This world is cruel.
Drenched in shades of blue.
Through all the pain just know I still love you.
Even if I sacrifice it all.
I'll see things through, know that I will protect you!

Even if it's all just a mistake
I don't doubt my fate that I create
I have faith in myself, can make it through this hell.
I know deep in my heart and time will telll

I love how accurate the lyrics are while getting the syllables to match up. Incredible job.

Love how accurate meaning of lyrics are to japanese lyrics, and really like Shawn's voice really fits this song.
When it's come to video I like how all Titan are shown and this video give me Arcane's opening vibes which I loved also they show Attack Titian at exact time when eren is show in real video. I don't know if hand symbolic of something or is there just for visuals but if I guess it maybe symbolises how all destiny is in hand of one

"This world is cruel, drenched in shades of blue. Through all the pain, just know I'll still love you."

Hits different after the final episode

If I’m being honest, out of all the English Covers I’ve heard. I like this one the most because to me, it’s the most accurate to the original lyrics. That’s not to say the others aren’t bad, but I was never able to flow with them because the lyrics were off.

Take the chorus for example.

“This world is cruel, but I still love you” to “This world is cruel, drenched in shades of blue. Through all the pain, just know I still love you”

This keeps in line with the original meaning, but adds on to it by saying that the world is cruel and full of sadness, but even with all that pain, they still care about that person.

“Even if I sacrifice everything, I will protect you” to “Even if I sacrifice it all, I’ll see it through. Just know I will protect you”

Here, it’s signifying that they have to see their choices to the end, which fits well with Eren’s mantra of “Keeping moving forward”. And again, another reminder, this time reminding them they will defend them.

“Even if it’s a mistake, I don’t doubt it” to “Even if it’s all just a mistake, I don’t doubt the fate that I create”

This one is obvious, but it’s changed to match the syllables.

“What is right is believing in myself strongly” to “I have faith in myself, can make it through this hell. I know deep in my heart and time will tell”

This one is more of a original, but it still fits the general narrative, this time adding the fact that “time will tell” if it was the right choice or not, but they have faith it is.

I really hope this cover does get a full version someday, but I don’t think it will be soon. The cover of the first Aot OP took five years I believe, so hopefully it doesn’t take that long to release a full version of this cover.

1:28 Eren's Titan form fading at the end represents something, i think we manga readers already know

I know I'm two years late, but I've been watching every english cover I can find, and none of them truly capture the meaning of the lyrics as well as this one. Thank you for doing this justice. Any chance you ever do a full version?

Love this cover, SO much. Your vocals really capture the meaning of this song, and I imagine Eren himself would really appreciate your cover. If you could make a full version of this song, it would be the BEST! ❤
