GIUB is member of the Bonn Water Network – connecting competencies for sustainable water futures
Показать описание
Water is life – and a key resource for sustainable development and the implementation of the Paris Climate Agreement. Many of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) depend on the availability of sufficient and clean water resources. Ensuring sustainable water management and governance to meet the competing demands is a challenge.
Since 15 years seven Bonn based organizations share their knowledge connected to solutions for water challenges in the Bonn “Water Lecture” series. At the end of 2020 these institutions decided to go one step further and established the “Bonn Water Network” to intensify and coordinate their effort and ideas regarding sustainable water futures.
All members of the Bonn Water Network address different challenges worldwide connected to water. Together with their partner institutions from research and practice they are aiming to contribute to sustainable transformation and sustainable development goals of the United Nations.
The Department of Geography (GIUB) shares its expertise in research on human-water-systems dynamics, impacts of global change, hydrological extremes such as droughts and floods including paleo historical analysis, water and health, water quality and eco-hydrology as well as water management and planning with the Bonn Water Network as well as in education and capacity development.
