The Kalasha are an indigenous ethnic group predominantly residing in the Chitral district of the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan, nestled within the Hindu Kush mountain range. They are renowned for their distinct culture, which is characterised by their Indo-European pagan religious practices, unique language (part of the Dardic group of Indo-Aryan languages), and vibrant festivals such as Chilam Joshi, Uchau, and Chaumos.

Despite the cultural pressure from the surrounding Islamic population, the Kalasha people have managed to maintain their cultural identity, although the number of those adhering to their ancient practices and speaking their native language has been dwindling, causing concerns for cultural preservation.

In August 2023, JollyGul will embark on a mission to immerse in and document the unique Kalasha culture, with a particular emphasis on their music, art, and customs, aiming to bring global attention to their captivating heritage.
