Former international trade secretary and Rishi Sunak supporter, Liam Fox, said the exact amount that extra help would cost depends on the Ofgem energy cap announcement later this month.

He added that a government led by Mr Sunak would be on the side of those struggling.

So frustrating constantly hearing "global pressures" being blamed. Britain gets half its energy from the North Sea Oil Companies, they can cap the wholesale gas price which will be passed on to providers, which can be passed on to Consumers. But God forbid they upset their donors

This is just sick. Using peoples struggles as their own means of gaining power.

No shame. Wish they would all just piss off

Stop the lies, he will pretend to help now and then just raise prices even more which will make the minimal help irrelevant

The best way is rolling blackouts and it would be a good thing to start getting Britons prepared for the winter by beginning during October to get ready for a new way of life. This also means get Britons to get themselves solar powered backup items which creates free electricity and prepares for emergencies. Get non electrical items like non electric washing machines etc....start preparing now! Our descendants survived without electricity and we too can live on less electricity! Let’s change with the times and if we have free electricity it means regardless of rising prices it won’t hit us so hard if that way. But prepare now folks!

Just listened to the therese coffee talking about reducing corporation tax thus improving their ability to invest. Corporations are already making profits hand over fist and investment will already be built in to their business model. Also she failed to explain how this policy will improve people's lot? We have wage stagnancy. As for improving GDP people do not have disposable income to spend due to higher prices on essentials. In fact GDP is likely to fall further as is a rise in bankruptcies which are already 58% up on last year. This government has no economic clue how to handle the economy

working people soon will be expected to spend 2 months(4k if lucky) of their wages over a year to spend on this then 1k on water then 1.3-1.5k on council tax. lets do the math 18k- thats 6, 8k least on basics

It's a choice between a rock and a hard place for normal people. I was supporting Trust until she started talking. Privileged profiteering and Autocratic ideology around identity and sociocultural issues. Rather than supporting what Johnson started, she has gone back to the ideology of the 1980s. I don't like what Sunak did, but unfortunately he seems to be the better option. India has always culturally recognised non binary identities. I really don't like the cake knife to the back, but it was what it was. Cutting the countries nose off to spite our face helps nobody. Ukraine is in hand. Ben Wallace is going nowhere. That's enough for me and it works for both candidates. Having my fate in the hands of Tories isn't a good feeling. The other parties need to stand up. Sunak could be face face of a new, progressive conservatism that looks to more to the preservation of our culture and values, and not reservation when it comes to the real lived world of the people that they purport to represent. Meritocracy. Socio Cultural Autonomy at the individual and local level. Investment in social and welfare infrastructure that is informed by research at ground level. Leveling up in real time. Streamlining government and civil services. Etc. Supporting the ideology, politics, and praxis of the war against the invasion of Ukraine and the economic subordination of Africa by Russia and China. Etc.

My stock portfolio dropped 20% - I'm struggling!

What sort of dystopia have we woken up in where politicians have to state that they are trying to help the struggling and vunerable or trying to highlight it as a virtue ...
