Thank you for all of your videos, I'm trying to understand autism better and they really help!

i would also like to add that many do not get a diagnosis for legal reasons. i myself have not gotten one because i plan on leaving the USA when im older and many countries do not allow autistic people to emigrate there

I feel strange when it comes to self diagnoses, because I worry that people might go "oh that's cool, well I relate to 1 trait and really want to be autistic, so I guess I am." Or will misunderstand what they think makes them autistic, and the do the wrong self diagnosis. But I also don't see what the difference is between someone diagnosing themself and a professional diagnosing another person. They are both people, and probably read the same things. So I tend to stay quiet about it.

This channel has finally given me the push to go get tested for autism. I fall into a group in which autism is routinely under diagnosed (AFAB, below poverty line, and rural), and I've had a lot of things in my life that could be explained by autism (certain textures make me physically ill, stimming, constant need for background noise, inability to read social ques, severe time blindness, the list is essentially endless). So, I guess, thank you for that. I have a feeling that this could open up resources for me that I've desperately needed my entire life.

I remember when I was diagnosed at 3 years old...never thought I would be able to suppress all the tendencies so swiftly....it's been a long time coming

I hope to get a diagnosis in the future but for now I just keep it to myself :)

As a 12.5 year old neurodivergent kid who has neurotypical parents and went somewhere with ABA therapy, I don’t feel like I need to speak up anymore. The place I went to destroyed my mental health like scissors cutting paper.

While I agree with some of this as a person with autism (diagnosed by a professional ) self diagnosis isn’t 100% accurate and some people do it for attention so while I do agree that professional doctors are a bit of an outreach you shouldn’t encourage self diagnosis for the reason of people doing it for attention

I have read tons about autism but idk, a lot of the symptoms just sound like adhd, and sometimes I think is just both. But they both run in my family so I guess that’s a point over, but my biggest worry is my little cousin, who struggles communicating and his mom don’t want to get him the help he needs.
