This video shows the disassembled transmission from a 1997 Ford F250. This vehicle was towed to us with transmission operational concerns and slippage codes specifically for the torque converter. This transmission was disassembled for internal inspection and it was very obvious that the torque converter failed. It was also apparent that the torque converter clutch had been slipping for some time based on the discoloration ring on the converter face. Many of the transmission failures in diesel truck applications are a result of the torque converter failing. When the torque converter fails it often dumps material into the rest of the transmission causing additional damage. When rebuilding the transmission it is critical to put in an upgraded converter in a diesel application to ensure proper lock up system function and overall converter durability. This transmission is going to require some additional parts but even with the additional parts required we will still be able to save money compared to a remanufactured transmission. This truck is also going to require the replacement of the transmission cooler as it to is contaminated with metal from the converter failure. In addition we are going to calibrate the transmission and select the appropriate components to ensure the transmission is best suited for future modifications that the customer may make. We have extensive experience building transmissions for heavy duty diesel and Commercial applications. We can be reached at Meenan Transmissions dot com.
