In this video you're going to learn some common English phrases and idioms for talking about education and some school-related vocabulary.

Phrases and Idioms:
A: Between the 2 teachers:
1) to play hooky: be absent from school.
2) to fail sb: not award a student a passing grade
3) to cut class: absent oneself
4) to attend (all of my classes): be present (at all of my classes)
5) to fall behind: fail to take progress
6) a pop quiz: a short test that is given without any warning
7) to hand out: to give sth to each person in a group
8) to catch up: to reach the same standard as the other students
9) to pick things up: to learn
10) to ace every assignment: to achieve high marks
11) a freshman: a first-year student at hight school
12) to skip classes: miss deliberately
13) drop out of school: quit school
14) an eager beaver: an enthusiatic person who works very hard

18) to know everything by heart: memorize sth perfectly
19) to crack a book: to open a book to study

37) to get an A for effort: appreciation for having tried to do something
