We feel horrible about the e-sports tragedy today. This video was scheduled a week in advance because I am moving for a few days. There is no correlation.

Who cares about timing though?
Just look at this video objectively. And whatever happened in the world has nothing to do with this piece of content.
Still sucks for the people in Jacksonville and all the people involved.

Where did “e-athlete” come from? “Professional video gamer” is a much more accurate title

*Competitive/professional gamers* are the modern version of chessplayers that you could watch without getting bored. As long as you know how the game works.
I can't really consider them as athletes, It's a disrespect to the ancient greeks, when people considers these *professional gamers* as Olympic athletes, because the Olympics is literally the celebration of human physical capabilities.

And no, I'm not a hater, I'm also a gaming addict myself, and has been supporting the E-sports for over 7 years.

Never heard of the term "e-athlete" and I'm a gamer. It doesn't show on google trends either.

The definition of an athlete is “a person who is proficient in sports and other forms of physical exercise.” So to be an athlete by definition you have to be proficient at a PHYSICAL activity or exercise. Last time I checked I’m pretty sure just using your brain and fucking up your sleep schedule isn’t that physical, now I am not saying that pro gaming (which is a preferred term amongst most people) isn’t strenuous on your mind or body, but the only time gaming strenuous against your body is when you prefer to game over sleep. Now for a very select few pro gaming is their job and if they stay up all night you can see it as like working third shift, but in the end it is said gamers choice to stay up all night when they can just sleep.

The part about e athletes putting their body under more stress than real athletes is the biggest 🧢🧢🧢 I’ve ever heard

Cortisol doesn't only come from physical stress but also from mental stress. In real athletes the stress comes from physical activity whereas in e athletes it's mental stress.

I had to pause the video when he said that getting a heart rate of up to 160-180 is the equivalent of someone running a marathon. I run long distances and my heart rate gets into the 160 zone within the first 3 minutes of running. Your heart rate is supposed to get that high with any form of cardio, even if you’re just running a mile or so

For people who say “Why do they stress about video games” it’s not their choice to release adrenaline and other chemicals into their body. Video games are actually very stressful when you actually UNDERSTAND what’s going on. People might see Rocket league as “Car soccer” but to other people who actually play and understand the game can see how deep the games mechanics and core understanding goes.

So basically what this video is saying is that actually sports requires a lot of grit and physical hard work while esports is basically pressing buttons and having good reaction time and practicing that for hours on end

*incoming gaming isn’t a sport you are just pressing buttons comments*

But do they have to go on diets like a athletes? Injuries like acl or meniscus tear, doing rehab and come back and play?

Im doing Bodybuilding and also play Video games competitively ( Rainbow Six Siege ) playing a game competitively is very stressful for the body that's true, but if it's only about the stress, fast thinking or heartbeat, in that case Jerking of is also a Sport and many other things... Please stop seeing non athletes as athletes, E Sports is nothing more than entertainment and competition! It has nothing to do with sport, if you disagree with me that means you probably never did any kind of real Sport!

I don’t watch any kind of sport, electronic or not. I’d rather dedicate my time to binge watching informative videos on YouTube (like this one)!
