Here is our full recap and review of the recently released Canon comic "Star Wars: Age of Resistance - Rey" issue, which followed Rey during her journey from D'Qar to Ahch-To during the events of The Force Awakens. Our review looks at how well the issue connected Rey's past to her need to overcome those hardships within her present actions during the events of the films.

It never made sense to me how Leia walked rt past chewy and went straight to Rey when Han died....

I have to say I'm conflicted about Rey being more saddened about Han's death than Leia. On one hand, yes Leia is known to be the strong leader, hell she never even shed a tear when her home was blown up, even says "we can grieve later". But on the other hand the originals also showed that Han was one of the few, if not the only one who broke through her shell. Compare that to Rey, who has known Han for a day or so. I don't know, but given the timing it just seems pretty unrealistic to me.

Was this before or after Leia walked past Chewie and went to hug rey, a person who she barley knew?

Leia felt what happened but Kathleen Kennedy needed a scene where they hugged even though rey had no connection to any of them. Chewy needed a hug

I feel like this needlessly complicates Rey and Chewbacca's journey to Ach To.

Again shes perfect ... saving the day, stopping slavery, mind tricking the evil en-slaver to be jailed. Didn't even get hurt... Even Luke fell for jabbas floor trap.. But not Wonder rey.

1:25 was a reference to the Battle of Yavin when he and Chewbacca came back to aid Luke Skywalker to destroy the Death Star

I don't think this issue achieved anything. Rey was not taught a new, ground-breaking lesson that had any real impact on her character. Yes, she decided to intervene and help the people, but that is nothing I hadn't expected from her after TFA.

Leia and Chewbacca hugging was good to see, but too late. It does not erase the mistake of TFA.

Of course she does.After all she cannot hear the news from his dearest closest companion Chewbacca.Rey has to do it because she’s Rey and really knew Han well.

I think these Age of comics have mostly been lighter stories, so I don't expect much from them, but ooooh boy that Snoke issue sure was something else

I find incredibly annoying Rey goes from "I thought the jedi were legends" to pulling off mind tricks in less than 14 parsecs.

I don't think they can really expand Rey's character until Episode 9 will be released,
otherwise they would spoil or contradict the Rise of Skywalker.

Its not that bad. Many good moments. Leia and Rey moment is sweet. Leia consoling her is very nice. Also Rey's adventure is ok. She did great. She was brave, confident. Pretty good. May the Force be with you too

Wow we finally get her telling Leia Han died finally in a comic that only maybe the fans who read this will know about and not a casual movie go'er who watches star wars movies when they come out. Its great seeing this but still disapointing.

I Just Love How After Leia’s Brother Died, Leia Became Rey’s New Master And Gave Rey Formal Jedi Training Since Leia Was A Former Jedi Knight

Honestly, I was disappointed too. I wish Disney-Lucasfilm had more of a plan with the sequels because a lot of these comics feel like running around in circles so they don't contradict future canon while addressing plot holes in the movies. I feel like I know nothing about these characters because the focus seems to be on plot twists or big reveals instead of grounded character traits/personality so it's really hard to engage :/ Feels like wasted potential.

I largely think the fault lies with the Last Jedi and that is a majority of why this story doesn’t mesh. It has its good parts, but they tried to force it to fit rather than make it work around the nature of the story. And it was just too different.
