Dementia is a terrible disease. I’ll never forget on my 20th birthday my grampa gave me the greatest gift. He opened his eyes and told me “Happy birthday!! You didn’t think I’d forget did you??” Forever in my heart ❤️

It took -1 kidney, -1 liver, +1 liver, +1 wife, -1 wife, that wife process repeated more than ten times, his wife dying, multiple religions, a POUND of meth in a very short period of times, alcohol poisoning on several occasions, being stranded in multiple countries, dying snd coming back, at least two coma’s, and dementia, but finally frank is doing something a loving father would do, engage with his son.

Edit: stop causing chaos.

I dont think the writers knew how emotional Frank's dementia would be. I think they knew it would bring a different bit of comedic relief to the character. He was a jerk but always did random funny drunk dad shtt that viewers with drunk dads could relate to, especially when they were younger. As they grew up, it wasnt as funny. So... you cant _only_ hate the dad with dementia. But his kids (other actors) really did a FANTASTIC job bringing the emotion behind the interactions. Lip said the same thing he would have said to drunk dad. But his eyes... they say something different. ❤

The writing in Shameless really tapered off EXCEPT for Frank’s dementia. Seeing him act like an actual caring human being and Father consistently was so surreal and it really made you reevaluate your whole experience spent watching the series up till that point.

This reminds me a LOT of my mom. When she was dying of cancer in the last few weeks i got a glimpse of what she should have been. I had the same look that lip did. It hits deep. You never forget the bad days, and crave for the good ones that barely exist.

I wish the twist was that Frank actually did hide a Gold brick in the backyard. Lol.

You can see it in Lip’s face he does care for Frank and is saddened by his health.

As terrible of a man Frank was, I can feel nothing but sadness and pity for those with dementia. I do find some solace in the fact that he remembered a good memory with Lip

"Don't you remember?"

Just about the saddest line Frank could have said to him.

Watching someone you love go through the affects of Dementia/Alzheimer’s is one of the hardest things to do.
I watched my grandma turn into a completely different person, unless she saw me. She forgot who I was a couple times but when she finally remembered it was like nothing had ever changed, RIP Grandma and Grandpa Ahles.

Okay I’ll admit this actually made me sad. The way lip kinda went along with it. I never ever thought I’d feel sorry for Frank ever.

Lip is looking like “Fuck I’m actually starting to feel bad for him” 😂😂😂

It makes me super emotional looking at Frank and seeing the actor so accurately portray dementia. Having a conversation where you're completely with it but it's the wrong timeline so there is a slight emptiness in the eyes almost like bad Deja Vu or a mini Groundhog Day watch my mom and her siblings take care of my grandmother and she would have these types of moments. We were all very happy to be able to speak with her but it was odd because it was a conversation we had had before and even though it was real in the moment it was almost like it wasn't. I don't know .

Keep in mind, this is the first time we've seen lip have any positive emotion shown towards frank.

The regretful look on lips face after seeing his dad's face when his dementia got worse I know that look where he starts to feel bad about all the stuff he did to him in the past

You know what really sucks is frank most likely dug it up if it was worth even $5 bucks. I'll start to feel bad for him until I remember what a piece of shit he was to his kids!

Every child and adult with toxic parents deserves to have the chance to forgive there parents, and see them in a softer light, even if for a moment.
