Why Frank Ocean won't release more music

Frank Ocean hasn't released an album since Blonde in 2016, and yet he remains one of the most critically acclaimed artists of his generation. After his performance at Coachella earlier this year, he was again in the spotlight. However, I think there is more than meets the eye as to why Frank Ocean is so respected as a musician.

It makes total sense. Blonde was a work of staggering genius. If your one is good enough, you only need one. He's a legend in my mind for that album alone.

I think Frank Ocean is the one of the only ppl that can make a song that makes you cry your whole heart and soul and then on another listen make you feel joyous/happy.

I heard Frank live years ago and I could tell how much his music means to him. Regardless what Frank does I just wish him the best, he is an artist that will always have my respect and I will support whatever venture he chooses!

Was there in the front at Coachella. Haven’t heard a singer sound so raw, so inspiring, and so emotional in a long time, not like that. This man takes his time with his art and it shows. Blonde and Channel Orange are era-defining masterpieces. Time will tell the tale of a man dedicated to his craft who defied all the odds and naysayers. Mark my words.

People who appreciate Frank Ocean's music should crave for more music. He must not fear failure and we must not fear a dead end. Respecting his decision always. Still want new music tho please

fell for the title. I got so bummed when I realized that, instead of making a bold statement, this video ended up being yet another wikipedia article synopsis

Great range of music here. Miles Davis, Brian Wilson, Billy Joel, The Beatles, Steely Dan.. Just watched Pink Floyd and now Frank Ocean. Good stuff! Excellent bio reviews of some legends. Great presentation and analysis ❤️

I love Frank Ocean's music. His music has been part of the soundtrack of my life through all my milestones. And I felt robbed at his Coachella set. It's still quite fresh in my mind and it's honestly commendable how well his PR team has suppressed how bad the set went. I'm still pretty mad how the festival was topped off after 3 incredible days. And his music was still stuck in my head all night because of my anticipation. Can't help but get it stuck in my head every now and then and I feel that's a testament to his great songwriting/production.

Frank is one of a kind. He's given us so much and has every right to take a step back if that's where he's at.

Didn’t he also suffer a loss a couple years ago. I can’t imagine just how hard it’d be to find motivation.

I used to listen to Channel Orange on loop all day everyday. It’s almost as if it was meant to be heard that way.

What I find extremely annoying from the average music consumer is when they whine over why a certain artist takes so long to release new music. Kendrick, the Pulitzer Prize winner, is another good example. And when they don’t hear anything for a mere two years or so, they’ll say “oh, he/she fell off.” They don’t understand that greatness takes TIME. If you’re a true fan, you’ll wait however long it will take. If not, then go ahead and listen to those mainstream artists who put out albums twice a year. Albums filled with low-quality that you might dig for a few days and then you’re over it. Great music should be timeless and should be able to be enjoyed EVERY SINGLE TIME YOU HEAR IT.

Nostalgia, Ultra was a skipless album. I get so agitated when people say they’ve never listened or heard of it. It’s my favorite of his work.

I remember in 2019 he release a couple singles that undoubtedly were from a new album, and same thing in beginning of 2020.. then nothing... been waiting ever since, and no trace of it..

He's reached god level after setting TWO cultural milestones with his 2 albums. Tbh I wouldn't ask him for more if he doesn't want to.

Yo! Frank Ocean can take the time he wants. I'm in no rush. I'm already sold. I'm not going everywhere. When you're ready, as long as I'm alive, I'll be there listening.

I miss Frank Oceans music. Its one of my inspirations. "Blonde" its one of my favourite discs. With Nikes im literally in the space and Skyline to its beautiful, it reminds me some good things that I have lived in summer. I hope that I could enjoy more art from him.
I think that frank its not the typical artist that likes being famous or in the spotlight or maybe its just something that its very difficult to cope with and thats why he doesnt show so much. If im trying to imagine what its like to be famous and everybody wanting selfies and screaming on me or following me... Puf, Its seems a nighmare to me, I enjoy my privacy. He was like a boom and I think maybe it was too much.

Anyway, thank you for sharing the video. It was cool! Have a good day! Lots love!
