BRAND NEW DREAMLINER DELIVERED LAST MONTH | Ethiopian Airlines 787-9 Business Class from HKG – BKK

Equipment changes can be a nightmare for aviation vloggers who want to try a specific product from an airline. On this flight from Hong Kong to Bangkok, I was expecting to review Ethiopian Airlines' old 787-8 Cloud Nine Business Class product with its 2-2-2 configuration. To my surprise, I stepped on board to find myself in their BRAND-NEW 787-9 cabin with its 1-2-1 configuration. To be precise, this plane (ET-AYD) was only delivered by Boeing to Ethiopian in May 2023 – just one month before my flight! Suffice to say that this is one of the most comfortable and unique ways to take the short 2-hour and 15-minute hop from Hong Kong to Bangkok – all for a cash fare price of just HK$1940 (around US$250)!

It is annoying they do not have consistent product on this route, it feels like a lottery based on what i read and show online

They normally operate B789 with the Colins aerospace diamond 2-2-2 config on this route but like you, sometimes you could end up on the latest 1-2-1 config

the good thing is the price is cheap so i booked 2 flights for August on HKG-BKK route, so hopefully the chances of me ending up on the newer one is higher 😂 (instagram review purposes lol)
