I watched The Film Capote and it was a good film on Truman Capote and back in 1985 there was a Man who used to bring to work a Macabre Magazine in Spanish called La Alarma about Murders Suicides and Shocking Fatal Accidents he would bring it and read it at lunchtime during work hours and it shocked me and scared me that there was this kind of publications in Spanish.

It is said that Truman Capote fell in love with Perry - and he was conflicted and it broke him because he wanted a resolution to the crime so he could publish his book but he didn’t want him to die. That broke him....

I'm really intrigued by that middle part which goes into the mind of the murderer. I'm adding it to my to-read list, I really trust your 5star suggestions :D.
Awesome hair btw!

This book is the first great nonfiction novel. I read it in the spring of 1971 as a high school junior. I was overwhelmed by the detail, but somehow the mush of my sixteen-year-old mind sensed that I was in the presence of a masterpiece. I'm glad you agree. After seeing the film recently, I rushed out to buy a new copy of the book. Thanks for the great review.

My favorite part about finishing a book (which I just did) is finding random YouTubers who have reviewed it. I’ll start with this one :)

I did a book report on this book back in high school in the late '60's (I'm 69, BTW). I was intrigued to read the book after seeing the movie "In Cold Blood" starring Robert Black and Scott Wilson in '67. In those years there were big screen indoor cinemas where one would pay admission and could sit, undisturbed, for 90 min. or 2 hours and CONCENRATE on everything in the movie. I miss those old time cinemas. I saw it the same year it came out at the movies, 1967. The movie was nothing short of powerful and the acting was excellent. No one in our small town of DeQuincy, LA had even heard of Truman Capote, although he was already somewhat of a celebrity, at least in some NY circles, with "Breakfast at Tiffany's" under his belt. With the movie still fresh on my mind (it made quite a impression on this 15year old!), reading the book was a blast! Thanks for the great review.

The Clutter family was murdered for nothing because there was no safe with at least $10, 000 in it.

I wish you were more active. You're one of my favorite channels. Secondly, you should totally make a goodreads account so your fans can see all what you've read as well as what you are currently reading, and what you want to read. Great site/app.

Great appraisal and review of the book. Read this when I was only 16 and it gave me chills. Capote, along with Hemingway, Kerouac and Faulkner were some of the best American writers of that time period.

What pages were the descriptions of the throat cutting, and hanging on? They sound like they’d be great excerpts for me to read to my lit class.

Also it isn’t a real book review unless there’s purring in the background!

I think the author goes into way too much unnecessary detail, much like the very boring Stephen King. For instance he goes into great detail about minor details such as Nancy's horse, Babe. Put me to sleep many nights
