【Pls look at the top comment first】I specially choose 1st July, Canada Day in 2022 to upload this video, because I know Orphan loves this pride land so much by heart accounding to the band's youtube channel "The Pumps Orphan" and they are the everlasting Canadian monument, 1980s legend. As we know, hard/melodic rock from Canada always hits the worldwide rock industry by terrific outfits. Turn back time to 1980s and review this 1980s symbol Orphan, who leaves remarkable musical works and arouses people's sense of nostalgia today.

Speaking of Orphan, this is not a prolific band. In the past few decades, they have only two studio albums in the 1980s. But for loyal fans, this is a legendary band, representing the very classic and nostalgic name among Canadian hard rock circle. Because Orphan was formed very early, which can be dated back to the early 1980s, for today's young generation, this name seems to be rarely known and mentioned. It is also because they finished off album releasing early, for whoever has fading impression on Orphan's songs, this album is precious to let more people keep them in mind.

The predecessor of Orphan was a band called "The Pumps", in which the two founding members guitarist Steve McGovern and drummer Ron Boisvenue played. Then Chris Burke-Gaffney and Brent Diamond were invited on vocals/bass and keyboards, who replaced the former players. Finally, the four young men consisted of a newly named band "Orphan".

Orphan's debut "Lonely At Night" was released in 1983 by The Portrait label and was very popular in Canada and USA. In those years when MTV was becoming more and more popular and widely promoted, Orphan's singles were filmed into music videos, which made the band win warm popularity. All the songs were co-written by Orphan's four members featuring the founding drummer Ron Boisvenue, who passed away from Cancer after the debut was released and replaced by Terry Norman Scott in Orphan's second album "Salute (1985)" . The debut was produced on high quality by Lance Quinn and Tony Bongiovi, and recorded at Power Station in New York, which was owned by Tony Bongiovi, who is the second cousin of Jon Bon Jovi.

In 1998, this album was firstly re-released by Japanese Rock Reissues on CD, but it was the unofficial version. In 2019, it was officially re-released by Rock Candy. This time Rock Candy specially kept a place for Orphan, the Canadian legend which the label considered to be.

Musically, both albums from Orphan sound very special, different from many other hard/melodic rock artists. From my viewpoint, they combined hard rock with new wave as lots of works featured the unique taste inspired by 1980s new wave sounds. Anyway, new wave played a vital role in 1980s music circle, some of which contain intercommunities with hard/melodic rock.

This song "Miracle" and the theme title song "Lonely At Night" from the debut were the two hit singles with the music videos, which were uploaded on the youtube channel "The Pumps Orphan" in the recent years. They combined the two related bands together. Actually, Orphan never quit. They created the channel online just in 2020 for fans to review their glorious days, even including those very early performance of The Pumps.

"Miracle" once charted Top 10 in Canada and became a mainstay on Classic radio. Into the noughties onwards, this superb single was still a representative work which Orphan performed on stage. In their 1985 album "Salute", "Open Up The Skies" and "Lyin' To Me" were the two superb singles with music videos on The Pumps Orphan channel.

In 2003, the compilation record "Lonely At Night / Salute" was released by Escape Music with 2 CDs, which is the best gift to have a thorough understanding of Orphan's music and arouses every nostalgic soul to review the golden 1980s. The record cover features the two iconic figures, the boy from the debut and the girl from "Salute".

In 2006, "The Very Best Of The Pumps & Orphan" was released. Of course "Miracle" should never be missed in the compilation. Check out "The Pumps Orphan" on youtube as there includes another newly arranged "Miracle" by Chris Burke-Gaffney, a song's revival as the miracle of legendary Orphan.

Since I saw Chris Burke-Gaffney created and shared a song entitled "I Love My Country - Canada" for his beloved pride land on the "The Pumps Orphan" channel, a smooth and amazing country gem, I think this video "Miracle" is appropriate for Canada Day from Canadian legend Orphan and sent to this land filled with real miracles as my best salute.

Great track & band! Love many albums from this year (1983).
Their sound is very simple, compact & warm. (Totally the opposite of nowdays overproduced and artificial music).
Perfect for a night drive 🚗 🌙 ✨👌

Intro of the song sounds a bit like the intro of song called "Lunes Por La Madrugada" by a rock band from Argentina called "Los Abuelos De La Nada".
