This is the graveyard I was telling you about in previous another 1 on gragg Road shipley hidden away opposite the church (now a nursey) next to the flats...you've got to look over the small wall.

I remember years ago seeing a similar picture of an oak tree sprouting from an old grave. The caption under the picture claimed that the graves occupant was buried with an acorn in his pocket. It was also claimed that this ritual held some local significance at the time of burial.

Check the walls. There were so many graves around Shipley Bingley and Eldwick that they used them to build with. While in princes park we came across a fallen wall. Most of the stones were recoverd from grave markers. I asked my grandma about it and she remembered them breaking up the graves when she was a child back in the 1920's.

You would think the village would still tend it. I don’t understand this lack of connection to people who helped this town prosper at one time.

Hello from TN, USA.
Someone should take a decent picture of the stone and a GPS location. I sit here, with a magnifying glass and could read most of the stone. It was for the wife. The husband's name is given and the fact that they had 7 children. The dates are there, but the angles of the picture were wrong for me to see everything. It would be a shame for this information to be lost. You might contact the local Historical Society to see if there is anyone associated with this Cemetery. GOD bless
