I seriously love the way this pedal sounds. My current drive section is a sd1 into a pedal pawn fuzz, then into a blues driver… while I love my drive section, it kinda lacks when chugging or doing the super high gain thing… looks like this is my next pedal

I have seen so many YouTubers demo this particular Friedman distortion, and make it sound like crap! It's nice to hear what a competent musician can do with it. It is an awesome sounding pedal. PS, aren't there some trim pots on the inside?

It sounds much better at 18 volts. More headroom & dynamics.

One thing I noticed about this pedal as opposed to every other analog overdrive, hard or soft clipping, is that if you listen to the raw signal (before it gets to an amp) it’s way more “hi-fi” sounding than all the other pedals I have. Not sure what that translates to, if anything. But everything else sounds really ragged and awful if not smoothed out through a tube amp.

This is a pedal I've really tried to like. As you said, it really excels at the high gain stuff, but after building 4 clones including the deluxe, I've sold them all on. I dunno what it is... I just can't gel with it.

I have one. I think it sounds better going into the front of my Super Champ xd on the clean channel, than the Friedman BE 100 model on my Helix.
