TULIP FAQ PART 2
Can you reuse your tulip bulbs? Nope. If you want to get more than 1 tulip out of your bulb, the best way is to just leave them in the ground and just enjoy the flowers in your garden. DO NOT CUT FROM THEM. the bulb needs all the energy from the leaves and they have to die off naturally for the bulb to be able to grow another flower the next year. As flower farmers we treat tulips as annuals and a one and done. One of the reasons locally grown tulips can be pricey. Do you have any more questions on growing tulips? Let me know in the comments and I’ll do my best to answer them.

You can keep that tulip with bulb attached upright in a cardboard box in a dry airy location. Check for mould and rotting. Do this in May. By August you can then store them after removing the dead leaves. So yes you can. And even if they are tiny they will grow but will flower in year 3 not the following year.

That’s not really true. They can still be cut above the leaves if the stem is long enough and the bulb will grow back fine the next year. My mom does it every year and hers grow back beautifully. Some varieties aren’t as resilient though, and sometimes only the leaves will grow back the next year. It really depends, but saying they won’t grow back at all isn’t true and lots of people do it.

Thank you for answering my question.I will chuck my bulbs away. They have no leaves or flowers to obtain nutrients.

What about dead heading? I keep seeing to just cut the first inch or 2 off after the flowers have fallen. Is that accurate? Thanks for your guidance

So we just leave the bulbs in the ground while keeping the leaves and flower? Do the leaves and flower just rot in the winter then? What happens when the flower a and leaves turn brown and die? We just keep the flower and leaves? I dont get it.

I bought tulips in a pot from the grocery store, they are wilting and the petals are falling off. How would you suggest that I save them for next year?

Let your tulip bulbs mature and grow in the ground. Be patient. Never cut till 3rd season and every tulip will be cutable.
