In a concert in Valencia (Spain) in 2008, he dedicated this song to me personally. I saw him at the sound check before the concert and I asked him if they were going to play Cry for you that night.
He told me this: Yes, for you.
I will never forget it.
Andy Timmons is a Capo

In 26 years I must have heard this piece thousands of times, studio version, live versions, still brings tears to my eyes and a knot in my throat every single time. A masterpiece of nuance and subtlety, possibly one of the most melodically beautiful, emotionally intense and gripping guitar instrumentals ever.

To me this is one of the best guitar instrumentals ever written in the history of humanity. I first heard this in the Ibanez anniversary, it was my first time time to see Andy and I listened to all his albums before and after. Amazingly flawless performance as usual.

Andy is such a lyrical guitarist. A technical wizard who just doesn't spout off thoughtless/soulless riffs. This jam is definitely a case in point.

This enchanting, bewitching piece hit deep into my soul and showed me my whole life from birth to twilight and I'm still crying now. THE BEST PIECE OF MUSIC I HAVE EVER HEARD! That 90th anniversary concert got such a lot of viewing back in the late 90s! It was definitely Andy's night, some sublime playing indeed.
Glad to see he has lost none of that fire whatsoever :)

I was fortunate to attend an Andy Timmons guitar workshop in Dallas many years ago. He played this, and I was sitting directly in front of him -- it was akin to a religous experience. I remember it often. Thank you for all you do, Andy!

Such a beautiful musician. He has it all. Tasteful phrasing emotional, articulate, melodic & unique. With a level of technical ability to carry the load. He is simply one of the greatest there’s ever been.

This is right up there with 'Cause We Ended As Lovers by Jeff Beck. Both masterpieces in their own right! Rock on, Andy!

I went to a guitar retreat about five years ago and Andy was one of the guest presenters. I hadn't really heard his music except in the build to my trip. At the end of a session he ran about harmony he said "any more questions" and a voice from near me said "will you play Cry for You". Great question :) He said "sure", just put on his backing track and went for it. I have to say, playing it for around forty people he put just as much heart and soul into it as for a packed arena gig. It was a pretty small room and the ambience he created with his sound and touch was incredible. I shuffled quietly out of the room with the rest and went off for a quiet few moments to get my emotions back together. What an experience, and what a talent. I'll never forget that magic that he created. And he was a really nice guy too.

How he captures the essence of emotion is unheared of. Just a masterpiece played by a still living legend!
