Seriously very disappointed to find out i couldn't reformat tags when the spools are intended to be reusable anyway...

Open source is the soul of 3d printing. We would never have gotten to where we are without projects like rep-rap.

Proprietary information only holds the community back.

Good on you for starting this.

It would be a great idea, I can’t wait to see if an open standard for rfid filament tags can be established, of if Bambu labs will share their method with others so that material information can be better tracked to allow better material profiles to be more easily implemented regardless of the brand

What I do is to take the rfid tag from my Bambu Lab cardboard spool, after the filament is finished and put it onto a refill from another manufacturer that offers refills. If the filament is the same, then I’ve found that it works well. Occasionally, a small tweak is needed to one area. Yes, this won’t work for everything, but it works well for most everything I’ve tried.

I would really appreciate it if u could nake filament that is cheaper. I couldn't dream that this would happen from bambu lab. Ur passion has went a long way.

I am just getting into 3D printing and open source repairable/interchangeable parts is hugely important to me and I would love to see the whole production industry move towards that.

Keeping this bumped because it is important to me. There are people who exclusively use Bambu filament and making the RFID system open source is not going to dissuade them from continuing to purchase Bambu filament. It just helps everyone else out without any damage that I can see to the brand. On the other hand, if they continue to gatekeep innovations like this, it will encourage users to think about another brand for their next printer. As a newcomer, Bambu's printers have been amazing. So easy to use. But as I gain experience, I'll be tempted to look at other brands for future purchases if they don't change direction.

I know nothing about 3d printing but i hope you can get this done. Good stuff

Honestly I feel like the real reason is they want to dothis is DRM on their stuff eventually. It is one of the reasons why I haven't fully committed to a Bambu Labs printer even though odds are it's going to be the next upgrade I make. It'd be nice to see them open source the software to make RFID tags and support right to repair.

This is and remains to be one of the only gripes I have with Bambu Labs, many other companies have succeeded being open source on pretty much everything, and they choose to play games with filament, it’s childish

They put drying information in their RFID as well. Clever clogs those Bambu engineers

It would be amazing to create our own settings. It would take using an amazing 3d printer to a whole new level. I understand it helps them market, and likely the filament makes them more than the printer does, so profitability keeps the company afloat.

It will be way easier if you wanted to do them in bulk to order a label printers that can program stickers in a batch
