Not a bad chip, just a bad video title

A year later and the 7900X3D can be found cheaper than 7800X3D. For people that use the same PC as a workstation and for gaming the 7900X3D may be a better option if they need a middle ground between the two uses at a really good price. Picked my 7900X3D up for $330 USD this week.

A few points regarding compromises:

7900X3D has more v-cache per core than the 7800X3D or 7950X3D. As an example, Volts x Amps=Watts. It's all relative, so for the CPUs its Cores x VCache =Performance. Its sort of a wash, but not for me. I much rather have more V-Cache per Core than more cores with less. I rather raise Voltage than Amperage Data can move just that much faster between the fabric, I think its a better option when V-Cache is a difference, mostly in games.

Its more than just $100 bucks, you forgot to add sales tax into the equation. Yeah, might be like $10 bucks difference but savings like that can add up. Save 30 bucks on a Mobo, 10 bucks on the CPU, maybe you can upgraded to CL30 DDR5 or similar. All compromises.

For non-gaming, the 7900X3D just has more cores than the 7800X3D when MORE cores are better (better load distribution).

To me, the 7800X3D is truly the GAMER CPU, near identical performance for less money. The 7900X3D is the utility infielder. The 7950X3D is the superstar that fans will pay money to see, but, I don't see the performance that much over the 7800X3D for games, nor the 7900X3D for creator/applications, for the added expense.

I think its just the compromises people are willing to make. THe 7900X3D to me is that middle ground between games and applications for a bit less.

I bought the 7900X3D because I wanted a little less CPU wattage at 120w than a 170 watt hotter chip with more Vcache for a cherry on top. I have not gotten all of my parts yet. I don't game so it's better for me. I always wanted a 4.0 GHz CPU base at least at stock speeds and now I have one. I am coming from and 1800X so it will be a really good bump in speed for my use. I cool my Threadripper 1950X on a Noctua air cooler and it works great even with a little over clock so air cooling the 7900X3D will be great as well. I don't plan to over clock much if any at all. I won't need to.

7900x3d is great. Just go into bios and fix the cores being parked and what not. It’s great now.

If and when configured properly, the 7900x3d is a very good CPU if you do more than gaming on your rig. If you’re just gaming, then the 7800x3d is the better option with its single CCD and 8 cores with 3d vcache.

Looks like the 7950x3d is almost $1000. Amazon and Newegg

Yeah I don't like the title to this video. Everyone is making this chip seem so bad. I agree the 7800x3d makes more sense but I would call the 7900x3d a bad CPU.
