I love your channel because it's real. Successes and failures are given equal weight. You have shared some heartbreaking mistakes with us as well as the beautiful. Your channel is real and thats why I've learned so much. Thank you!

Nobody ever has 100% success at anything so showing the negative as well as the positive helps viewers see the boundaries between success and failure. It’s what my Ph.D supervisor used to call “Pushing back the boundaries of ignorance.” You do a great job for the rest of us, Danni. Long may you continue.

I like your real vids showing sick orchids because I get discouraged when my orchids don’t do well despite all the care and attention I give them and I might even be attempted to leave the hobby altogether if all I saw from youtubers are success stories thinking I just don’t have a green thumb so as much I admire and enjoy your beautiful orchid collection I most benefit from your honest updates thank you

You are so wise for your young years. I do love your videos and your perspective bout life. I also have an ICU orchid that I am trying desperately to save. I am not giving up on her and hope she does not give up on me. Keep doing you in your videos, we can not be loved or understood by all but we can feel true to ourselves. Thank you Danny.

I like seeing the failures and “what went wrong” I think it’s encouraging. It’s nice to show that you aren’t the end all be all of orchid advice, knowing that you (someone who I look to for guidance) still makes mistakes make me feel better about mine. I recently lost an orchid for the first time from rot and felt super dumb because in hindsight it made so much sense why it died.

Love the idea of just being real and just share everything the good and the bad... :)
That's just how life is, nobody is perfect, and we all experience both good, bad and all the other shades in between, whether it's with plants or in life in general :)
Love your vids Danni 🌻 🌿

This made me feel a bit better, I am currently having bad luck with two of my orchids and its been a bit frustrating and disheartening especially because I've only recently learned about proper orchid care. It's nice to be reminded that this can and dose happen to every one. I wish you good luck with all of your icu orchids, and great job on the video.

With the Zygonisia Cynosure, you could trim the dead bits off and put a small cloche over it, to increase the humidity and warmth...

The "bad stuff" also encourages intelligent conversation... how does one go about nurturing an ill plant... how does one manage a pest outbreak... how do you go about quarantining...

The bad is often more important than the good as you learn from it.

Not sure if it will help, but...
Zygopetalums et al. are said to grow well in a semiterrestrial potting mix suitable for Cymbidiums or Pahiopedilums. Water-retentive, but freely draining mix kept slightly damp. Intermediate temperature, Bright to very bright light. Humidity above 50%, provide enough water to prevent the roots from ever going completely dry. Reduce water slightly after the plants have finished growth. Do not allow the plant to dry out for more than a day or two. Fertilize heavily during spring and summer. (two parts medium-grade fir bark, one part peat moss or chopped sphagnum, one part perlite):
Aganisia cyanea (the mommy) grows better mounted, but can also grow in a shallow pan in a fairly fine compost. Intermediate or preferably warm conditions, with shade, high humidity, good air movement. Should be watered throughout the year, but allowed to dry out between waterings.

Hi Danny. Thanks for covering a real topic, and in such an eloquent way. There’s many variants in your “wicking semi hydro system”, whether you bury the microfiber mid pot or bringing it thru to the top. Or multiples strands of microfiber thruout the leca or one single in the middle. Also if you have the reservoir outside or simply drill preset holes in a container. And also if you use plastic pots or clay pots. Brave new world you’ve introduced and am sure you’ll be exploring in the future. Almost 92k and counting, congrats. You’ll probably might reach 100k before anniversary of Miss Garden Girl ? Pop some champagne and ... Looking forward to when that happens.

Danni I want you to know I saw that video with the paph growing up and up. Mine was the same and now discovered it was needing more light. I followed your "tier" set up and low and behold it worked! Have it in a separate pot in spag amiss since roots weren't as long as yours. The "mother" plant (bottom) isn't looking that good but the top is. Thank you and still learning.
