In this video, I discuss why specs, mostly, don't matter. And why you are overthinking your smartphone purchase.

They do matter depending on what you want to do on a smartphone, but the majority of people buy mid range smartphones because these phones seem to be more than enough for the average consumer.

4:22 That's THE best analogy I've heard.

I'm a pocophone user and i agree that software matters but since i play high end games which would be unplayable in mi a2, performance also matter.

Even though i agree with you on the things you said, but the reason for me to get a high spec phone is to be able to run it for a longer time. Any phone will be able to do daily tasks when they are new and shiny, but I don't think after 2 years a smart phone with snapdragon 625 will be as fluid and smooth as its 845 counterpart.

I totally agree with this video. I never wanted to go for a bigger phone, my last phone was Xperia Z3 Compact from 2015 and it was working almost alright for the whole time but I decided to go for an upgrade but when I saw the current smartphone market the options were so limited considering my demand to get compact and capable phone, I thought I will buy Nokia 6.1 Plus it had everything good going for it but then the camera was good enough so my next option was to compromise and settle for Pocophone which I got it for around $230 and while I don't play games and use the phone that much so I'm never using that 845 SoC and 6GB RAM performance benefits also I was an Android purist but even though I'm not able to use all that power it does come with other things like a great camera in its range and as this phone gave Xiaomi a lot of exposure, they are also supporting this device and making positive changes like changing the UI to be closer to stock than before and other stuff. So, it's decision to mimic a flagship phone is definitely working out for its users even as even if they are not a power user they can get what they wanted in other department at such a steal price.

30K Q&A: Why the heck are you so underrated? Like, you surely deserve more than most of the tech reviewers but... Oh well...

Q&A : where are you from in England?
Also what's your main job or what do you study?
What are some of the nostalgic childhood technology you have a soft spot for?
Do you watch football, if yes which club do you support?
Cheers!

I agree 100% with this. I chose my phone for headphone/car stereo audio first and foremost, with expandable storage as the second priority and anything else could be worked around or compromised on and I am perfectly happy with my phone and the experience it delivers. I have an LG V30.

Just to clarify something, here in my country (Philippines), the Poco is just around 30% more expensive (not double) than the A2 Lite so the decision to favor the better experience isn't as clear. It's also obvious in our local pricing that Xiaomi charges a premium for the stock android one experience, as similar spec phones to their android one models are usually sold quite a bit cheaper.

I heartily agree with the point you made here. Also, mad respect for the AE86!

Spec matter for people for future proofing. Many of us keep using the phone for 3-4 years

I like this episode specifically because ur not just looking at the gamers pov but of the non-gamers too like what are the things they like or might not, are they looking for a fast but ugly looking phone or a not that slow but good looking one. Its nice that you did that

One thing you forgot to mention is that the poco will last much longer becouse of the soc while the other one will need to be replaced after few years.

30K Q&A : If you are told to create a perfect smartphone in every range (low, mid and high) how will you design those 3 phones? what things you will be willing to sacrifice in each model? What are the most overrated things in smartphones which every tech youtuber raves about but we hardly use that in daily life?

Thanx. I am great fan of yours. Your channel is amazing, keep pushing those quality videos. You are the most relateable tech youtber in this space :)
