According to the wiki Ameri is at that age, she's 16, where she starts to explore more of the world outside of the rigid confines of school and more importantly parental control. I imagine it is quite tough for any parent to accept that their child has to start living their own life and you aren't in control of it anymore. Given the overactive imagination and the nature of the world and his work, for poor Henri here it must be even tougher. There's no mention of Ameri's mother anywhere I've seen so may be other things going on that make him more over protective of her. Still, I hope he can atleast smile at his daughter being happy with someone she loves
