In the months following Pearl Harbor, the Imperial Japanese Navy conducted operations at sea, threatening British Royal Navy dominance in the area.

The most dangerous moment of the war, and the one which caused me the greatest alarm, was when the Japanese fleet was heading for Ceylon and the naval base there. The capture of Ceylon, the consequent control of the Indian Ocean, and the possibility at the same time of a German conquest of Egypt would have closed the ring and the future would have been black.
— Prime Minister Winston Churchill, April 1942

March 31, 1942, Japan had attacked Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941, her forces had overrun Hong Kong, Malaya, Singapore, the Dutch East Indies, and Burma. Now the Imperial Japanese Navy and Army were heating up for an assault on India, the jewel in the British imperial crown.

in my experience you shouldnt massively speed up Torpedo bombers during their run because their aim isnt aactually adjusted. meaning they aim like they would if they were going 30%slower and tend to drop far ahead of the target. you can get away with a bit more speed but dont max it out, it will usually mess up the attack

6:44: "It does not look like we have lost a single Albacore"

The Albacore whose wreckage is sinking in the background: "Am I a joke to you?"

The fishing boats are useful in keeping troops and sailors fed

I feel like this is an unintentional nod to the Russo-Japanese war, where the Russian Baltic fleet fired upon British fishing vessels, under the paranoid delusion that they were in fact Japanese torpedo boats. Despite the fact, that the event was off the coast of Britain, the ships were flying British colors, nor were they armed in any capacity.

This caused an international incident and almost started a war with Britain, causing the Baltic fleet to have to sail all the way around Africa rather than cutting through the Suez as planned, on their way to Vladivostok. This same fleet consisting of old ships, crewed by some of the laziest, unskilled, and at times crazy, sailors the Russian Empire could find, went on to be decisively clapped at the Battle of Tsushima. Paving the way for a Japanese victory in the war shortly afterwards

IJA likely has about 1275 (aprox) at Ft Blair. They clearly have sufficient supply there to be able to upgrade the field. (so Fx5) Given it has a total of 5 levels of port+airfied, that's another (x2: 1+0.2*5). You have 633 troops there and represent about 5% of the total force in the location. Without supply, your force there = 633. Thus the total force in that location is about 12660. Once you divid by 5 and divide by 2 (the adjustments), you're left with 1266. So likely there are between 1250 to 2000 IJA troops in that location.

My grandpa once told me that the difference between a boat and a ship is that a boat leans into a turn and a ship is big enough that it leans away. By that definition, Indomitable is a hell of a ship, watching it turn hard.

I always do line ahead for torp drops, other formations are too wide.

Nippon merchant ship: I'll show you what indomitable means

Also, assault fishing boat immune to torpedo hits.

Great episode, a lot of laughter broke free :))) (

17:31 the S class were a bit slow, it was made more for North sea and north atlantic use. It only had about 6000 nautical miles of range at 10 knots, and a top speed of just under 14 knots. Maybe consider a T class? Historically they were a lot more at home in this part of the world, faster, better range, more torps and a MUCH better deck gun, they are rather ugly looking boats though.

I have had this game for a little while and was kinda intimidated by the UI and scale. Thanks for posting these amazing glimpses into the campaign; really helps me to learn the game and I enjoy learning about the ships and different weapon systems. I love your work Wolfpack! Thankyou sir

Let's see. Light cruiser, four stacks. Yep, that's one Sendai-class light cruiser less in the theatre (川内型軽巡洋艦, Sendai-gata keijun'yōkan).

Expending actual ordinance on that fishing boat would upset the admiralty: "Why didn't you used small arms to engage her from a close range?"

It's always a good showing wolfpack. I'd adjust torpedo bombers to attack from a 45-60 degree angle if you want them at full speed to compensate for accuracy. Attacking from the bow would give the best results from my experience when I play.

If dunkirk taught us anything it’s to never underestimate the power of a fishing boat

If Indomitable survives this series she will be the British version of the Grey Ghost
