As of 2024, you indeed need to win 1x with every deck you want to keep from the "Starter Deck Duels", but you're free to try as much as you like. Source: I'm a starter and finally managed to unlock them.

I really want to get into MTG, but it is so overwhelming when you don't know anything. The only card I can name is Black Lotus, and even then I am not 100% confident that's even a card, lol. I see that this game is turning 30 years old this year. It's super intimidating to even just try getting into it. When a card game starts it is easy to get into because there are only so many cards, but I have to take into consideration 30 years of card releases...

First time I've reached platinum in rankeds using only starter decks, playing like 2-3 games a day. Personally I dont care about rank, I just wanted to finish quests :> Those decks are good enough! I didnt create my own deck yet, just building a collection. This is what I call enjoyment
