I have a set of Kenmore washer and dryer. I’ve had them for 25 years now. I hope they last another 25 years. But when they give up the ghost, I’m going to do speed queen. Expensive but basic and sturdy. I am blind. I cannot read any of the displays, etc. on these new washers and dryers. I need simplicity. Plus the more bells and whistles. There are the more things there are to break. I will take basic any day.

We have LG front load washer/dryer, 14 yrs old. They've been on pedestals from day one. Very quiet, no vibrations.

I just love it when the retailer tells me to not forget using shock-pads or pedestals, and i ask them "why would i buy that?"

I have the Electrolux 7537 Series and it’s on a pedestal but my home is on a slab so there is literally no vibration. I’ve been super happy with my ELux machines.

Not a fan of Electrolux. I bought a front loader it lasted 18 months and the water inlet valve started leaking. No one had the parts for it. It was on back order over a year. I finally got tired of waiting and bought a speed queen. Electrolux was a $1000 mistake.

Too bad Miele left the American full size washer and drying market. I think one can still get their 220V washer and dryer and YES it just plugs into the back of the electric dryer which goes into the 220V socket. Saying that, just spend the extra money on a good Speed Queen front or top loader. They should last a long time.

I've had numerous front loads on pedestals and have never had an issue.

Good video. Changed my mind on buying a pedestal. Thx.
I disagree on the auto soap fill. Ya only need 3 TBS of liquid soap for a large load. Ya only need 1 TBS of liquid soap for the dishwasher. I have been doing this for 2 yrs and my clothes and dishes are clean. Save yourself money and chemicals on your body and on your dishes, etc.

The other drawback of pedestal bases is that you lose a potential work surface. Without pedestals, the tops of a front load washer and dryer can be used for folding and organizing your laundry. When you add a pedestal base, the tops become too high to be used as a work surface.

What are your thoughts on detergent sheets for washing clothes? Thanks!

I always assumed those automatic dispensers probably use too much detergent. I'm really the only one who uses the washer, and I use 1 to 2 tablespoons depending on the load. That is less than the 1st fill line on the cup that comes with detergent. I know i can't trust the laundry detergent companies on how much detergent to use, so I always felt I couldn't trust the washer companies to dispense the detergent for me either.

How do the auto detergent dispensing machines deal with very hard water? Also, is the detergent pump a major failure point?

my comments:
Completly agree about the clean out. I'm tech savy and I have to open my maytag which does not have a cleanout door once a year for coins, screws
Additional item, hability to change the door opening right or left, I thought it was available on all washing/dryer. My Maytag does not allow changing the door of the washing machine.
Auto Dispenser will save people from the softener clogging the washing machine. I was shocked of the clogging in my machine that I must open once a year.

What is the advantage of a front loader over a top loader? Kills my back to empty the dryer, def don't wanna pull heavy, wet clothes out of a front loader bending over. Plus, they get moldy and smell.
I will always be a top loader buyer! Plus, l can open my machine at any point to put in or take out stuff. It just makes more sense to me.

Thanks Blake! Anyone have any problems with Space Grey washers scratching?

I have alot of white appliances, they show everything! White looks dirty faster, it never looks clean. Get a sharpie for scratches on black and grey. 😅 I'm getting black.

Can you please tell me which brand of washing machine have a cleanout access in the front of the machine? I saw Maytag’s cleanout is at the bottom of the machine. You have to take out the back panel to access. That seems crazy. The rep at the store would never tell you this!!😢

When I did buy new washing machine, I did not want auto dispenser. Auto dispensers are common failing part in European washing machines. I think it's better learn how to read and how to measure detergent amount. It's not really so hard.

Information does seem a bit outdated. Notably the sheets and whites coming cleaner in top loaders than front loads because of more water. Not the case anymore. Front loads clean much much better than modern day HE top loaders. Also spot on about the pump
Filters. Electrolux is really nice but the pump filter is the main reason LG wins over them. Such a pain when a sock goes missing.
