HOW TO CHECK YOUR MULTIMETER / DMM

This DMM verifier is a nice tool to have if your measurements are suspicious . How to check your multimeter is alway a good thing. In Matt's case he used another meter to verify the DMM was not calibrated to read at the lower amperage range. I show the ucurrent and the voltage standard.

At 2:47 I love the conformation that I was correct in doing this very same thing last week. Was telling my Master Tech that I had to change my meter from AC to DC to get a current reading when I was checking 4-20 mA signal to a I-P valve and he was like. What? I don't know what you was reading because current is current the voltage don't matter. Made me feel stupid and I was trying to enplane but he just made fun of me and others was listening and smiling. Pissed me off bad. Man this is cool. Thanks I knew I was right and I was getting the correct readings. Great video.

Thanks! I was checking 12volt battery o just charged. Meter read 13volt. I never had that high of reading. So i checked it with a different meter 12.78. I know it could be a static charge and i have to wait for battery to settle 12 to 24 hours of put a load on it and see how it reacts. Still if i had a handy device like you then i could check meter. Thank you for your video.

Hi Steve... to be honest, it has never crossed my mind to baseline / check my meters. Will look into this and hope to make it a regular habit... at least once a year (we don't do a lot of electrical testing / diagnosing)! :-)

Hi Steve I got a ANCO AM-832 & my friend Alex who had 2 Multimeter Testers & checked my ANCO AM-832 Multimeter with Alex's Multimeters Testers & I found out my ANCO-832 was 3 Volts out & I was blaming my Foxsur 12V/24V 7stage battery charger was out by 3Volts out & all along the Bloody ANCO-832 was 3Volts out as 3 Volts less & testing a 12Volt battery was 3Volts down & I had compared it with Alex's Multimeters Testers mine was way off by 3Volts & so I started looking at buying a Fluke Multimeter Tester & they are Very Excellent Quality as I looked on line & were way off my Price Range & so I decided to go on AliExpress Store & looked the Fluke Multimeter Testers there to Holy Molly they to were too expensive as well & even though I live in New Zealand & had a look at Fluke Multimeter Testers here but were even more expensive as I found out the Fluke Multimeter Testers are extremely excellent quality Multimeter Testers but I couldn't afford one & so ended up looking on line on Jaycar Electronics Store Manukau City South Auckland New Zealand & they have a few Multimeters there in their Jaycar Electronics Store & I found one that would suite me & I brought it & it's a DIGITECH Technician Economy True RMS Autorange CAT III 1000VNo QM1321 Multimeter for the price of NZ $58.90 also has a Lifetime Warranty & which I thought was a great price which I could afford & also has a special feature NCV which means NON CONTACT VOLTAGE DETECTION & I tried it & it works really well to & picks up the Mains 230AC Voltage behind the walls which is very handy to know where the Main wires are & when I take the Multimeter Tester & have it about 4 inches away from the mains switch board its beeps quite loud & a led light Flashers as well & when you go to the mains switch it beeps like crazy & the led lights flashers like crazy as well & I think some of the Fluke Multimeter Testers have that NCV capability as well & I just couldn't afford those Fluke Multimeter Testers & I have read some of the specifications on these Fluke Multimeter Testers & I know that they are Number 1 Multimeter Tester in today's Market but for the price I paid for the DIGITECH Technician Economy True RMS Autorange CAT III 1000V NO QM1321 Jaycar Electronics Store can't complain & I found out later that Jaycar Electronics they actually make these Mulitmeters themselves & having a Lifetime Warranty as well I think that is pretty good to & that unit Steve you have there Steve to able to test your Famous FLUKE MULTIMETER TESTERS with that unit that you have there Steve & Steve I Wish You Well Steve in what you do & Thank You Steve for putting this Video on Utube & Have A Lovely Nice Day Steve or A Lovely Nice Good Night Steve Kind Regards Peter

I really need to learn how to use these meters.. ok here comes the stupid question was it my imagination or was everything off .1? Being a meter you would think it would be dead on or is that .1 the current lost from the terminal tip to the meter... nice vid steve
