This has to be one of the most beneficial counselling videos I have come across. Thank you very much for making it. Well presented, with good examples.

I can only echo Amanda. The down to earth, non-condescending approach is amazing and made to look so effortless. Your calm collected, manner of Tutoring is refreshing and inspiring.

I am a senior manager and trying to give our management team some tools to help them communicate with their teams. Active listening is important. This video has helped clarify my thoughts. Thank you.

Thank you. I did a basic counseling course 30 years ago and just needed a quick update. This was perfect. x

Thank you, Dr. Tutor, I'm a first-year graduate student in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, at Walden University. This youtube posting was extremely helpful. I would even pay for your services, and I will look forward to more online advice and tips. Keep up the great work and thank you :).

Great points and one important thing to add is " proximics ". Don't sit your client further than 1.5 metres away. It makes them feel isolated. And never have a desk between you or have a better chair then your client. Set up proximics is critical along with lighting and quiet

I once had a counsellor who stared at me for duration of the session, he hardly spoke/gave me feedback on what I was sharing. It made me bey uncomfortable for sure haha. Thank you for this video, it’s helping with revision.

Empathetic listening is key. Some people in the field pass thinly-concealed judgements on their clients and make all manner of assumptions under the implied guise that ‘they know you better than you know yourself.’ It often comes from a place of genuinely-good intentions but you’ve just got to be careful when it comes to how you interact with clients in that sense. You’ve got to let them talk because it’s more about them than you.

Unfortunately, I found this a bit late, after filming my level 1 counselling skills, which I struggle to apply all these amazing skills that you taught here. Nevertheless, from now on and in the future, I will be able to use these amazing skills, because of the way you thoroughly explained it. Thanks a lot...
