Honda CRZ HPD - (Track) One Take

Matt attends the Motor Press Guild's annual track day, where he gets to drive a wide variety of cars at Willow Springs. To Celebrate passing 300,000 YouTube Subscribers, we're uploading 11 videos in 11 days!

Matt moved over to the Streets of Willow Springs, a smaller, tighter circut for a few of the lower-powered cars. First up, the Honda CRZ with Honda Performance Division accessories! It's got springs, sways, rims, sticky tires, upgraded brakes, exhaust, and a supercharger! Can Honda's aftermarket division inject some life into the maligned hybrid?

Haters gonna hate. The trick to the crz is managing the battery boost and not let it run too low. It does just fine at 3000 if you have the battery boost to assist.

They should've offered a non-hybrid model with a K series engine. I think the sales would be much higher.

You can can get a great deal on these used if you gotta have a hybrid. Really like the looks of them. Just wish there was a serious aftermarket for them.

A CR-Z with its stock 136hp is quite enough for a commuter and the HPD's 197hp is also quite good for a 1, 5-litre car.
What you keep forgetting is that if you put a 350lb blob on the driver's seat, anything below supercar level will feel slow.

The Stock CRZs aren't that bland, i like the engine, it's grest for being only a 1.5 though, but yeah, could use a bit more power

Something is amiss with that pricing.  The HPD kit was about $5500.  I cannot imagine that dealer installation is another $11k.

Crz is a great little car. Everyone always complains about the power. To be honest why don't you all just spend your money on American muscle for real power?

You can buy the supercharger kit from and honda dealership for $5500. You still get to keep your full length warranty too. Put it on yourself. No real need to spend boat loads of money on shocks and other accessories. Unless you're in to that. Just throw it on a used CRZ if you have one. Supercharging isn't nearly as difficult as putting on a turbo

3:13 Did you fall asleep? and 4:00 That's EVERY honda. In every video you do with Hondas, you never red line them, but that's what Hondas are known for. The power band is 6000+ rpms. If you shift accordingly, you will feel the car come to life.
