Albany is a typical Northeast US city in that retail can't survive because the masses moved to the suburbs, leaving low income and welfare folks in run down neighborhoods. The automobile has destroyed most older American cities from the inside out.
That said, they best part of Albany is outside the city limits in very safe towns, great schools, great family entertainment, great place to raise a family. That's totally boring for tourists, but as a native not employed by the tourist or entertainment industry, I'd say that's a good thing. People roll in from other areas and say it sucks...well gee sorry there's no red carpet for you and 24hr entertainment 7 days a week, so move on. lol

Upstate NY and the capital district for the most part is a good place to live however living and working in certain areas of Albany has become like the old west. Daytime crime and shootings have become the norm. The police try their best to keep things under control but liberal constraints the local leaders have placed upon them make their jobs impossible. It is sad to see what has become of my home town.

(Albany & Saratoga ) It’s extremely boring but yet the crime rate is terrible and dirty. Like the dude said you have to drive hours to get anywhere, it far from everything I don’t think a 3 hour drive 1 way is cool especially with gas prices. Just had to move here from Washington State due to work-never would recommend Albany or the Capital district of NY.

I'm an Albany native and it's boring. Unless you want to drive 3 to 5 hours to see things lol
Property tax in the city is terrible, rent is rising, and they're no entertainment man lol 😂😂😂😂

Albany ny is terrible as far as crime, , business's that were there for years are leaving and heading elsewhere being they lost business due to crime, , no entertainment at all as far as I'm concerned, ,nothing to do in the city itself, , all you see is drug addicts, prostitution and run down streets between lark and manning Blvd on central ave, , sadly for being the capital it needs improving big time. I've talked to a few property owners that lost value due to the problems in certain areas of the city.

Good luck with trying make Albany become silicon valley like California due too few Asians Korean Japanese Vietnamese immigrants unless half population is Asians like in California high tech chip cities. I can bet my life on it. Hahaha Hahahah.

The politics are awful (democrats) and gave wrecked the entire city.
Was once good now cant suck enough
