Sonlight also sells a dissection kit with a few critters and the solution isn't so smelly. HTH

I'm high school I opted out of dissections cause I was into animal rights and was a vegetarian. Lol! But as an adult and homeschool mom I've totally embraced dissection. We've done quite a bit and learned a lot. It's definitely gross but you learn so much from seeing inside yourself.

Did you pair this biology with the Apologia Heath and Nutrition?

Looks like the notebook uses the Cornell Notes style. cool! We do that now.

We chose Apologia curriculum for our 9th gr student and it didn't work well for us. We stuck with it for the year since it was quite an investment financially. We were not pleased with the quizzes they provided so I wrote all my own quizzes. I felt the quiz questions were worded in a very confusing manner. The material is very in depth and I felt the questions weren't designed to help a student succeed. Just FYI. I hope the material works well for your student.

My children have LOVED Apologia sciences. The biology was one of their favorites! Thankfully, we have a mom in our co-op who does a group lab, so I never had to do the labs myself :) My daughter is doing hers this spring, and that is my last one. You will be blessed by it!

You are so right about public school textbooks having to much unnecessary information. I have found myself using them as a spine only to create units not to direct teach from. A lot of times 1 book can be used for more than one school year cause their is so much content.

I LOVE Apologia!!! I especially love the student notebooks. Last year when my twin daughters were in 9th grade we did not use Apologia we used a secular Biology for Kylah and a modified Biology for Mylah (Who is autistic). This year we the goal was to purchase the Apologia Chemistry for Kylah but we realized that sshe was not ready so we got the Advanced Biology which is mostly about Anatomy and she loves it!! I really like it too because of the way that it is laid out. that particular set came with the coloring book as well so some days she gets to color her charts and diagrams. I just love it. We plan to stick with them for Science. Great for
