I'm so glad it worked out for you both. Mine's not a gay love story, but I am one of those who lost a best friend after we tried to date. We were good friends in high school and then became closer in college. Then after college, I was living in Japan, and he was at Harvard Med. We decided to go for it. He made some awesome mixtapes for me during that time -so that part in your video made me laugh! We only saw each other in person 3 times, but the letters/conversations were amazing. I chose a grad school nearby. But once I moved back, I realized I couldn't fully reciprocate the physical attraction. Ironically, though we're from Chicago and our old HS friends still live in the Midwest, we both have lived on the East Coast within an hour of each other for the last 30 years, but we haven't met in person since I told him that. We've both lived a lot in that time. Sometimes, I still miss my friend, but I encourage people not to bottle up strong feelings. I call it the Deathbed Test. Imagine yourself on your deathbed reflecting on your life choices. Do you want to have regrets about what you would have, could have done?

U Two are so cute, and it wasn’t nearly as long as 20 years but your love story is quite literally the lesbian equivalent of me and my partner. It’s a long story but at one point in our friendship they asked me if I’d be the best man at their wedding if they ever got married, I was head over heels for him at the time and this broke me but now it’s funny because now I can tell the story at our wedding of how I leaped out of the friend zone.
