I think the squad sees Levi as a big protective brother! Like how he protected himself, the squad, and the raft(?) By spearing the shark. Also how he stopped Jaxx from Stealing Alex's water when she needed it! It looks like Levi cares about the squad very much but doesn't like to show it👀
