The Favourite (2018) Sarah Throws Books At Abigail Scene Rachel Weisz Emma Stone & Olivia Colman

A scene from Fox Searchlight’s The Favourite (2018) dir. Yorgos Lanthimos. Scene where Sarah throws books at Abigail after finding her in bed with Queen Anne, then Abigail hits herself with a book to seem as if she was attacked in order to gain Queen Anne's sympathy. This is the scene from the famous line "I like it when she puts her tongue inside me". I claim no rights to this film and will take down if asked.

I can’t believe Colman, Stone, and Weisz invented acting.

The way she's trying to dodge them could easily be considered a new form of dance

As amazing as Emma is in this movie I really thought Rachel was going to win the Oscar. Her presence, the way she talks and moves is incredible

Sarah and Abigail are both ambitious, manipulative smart and cunning but Sarah is more talented, powerful and skilled at politics. Abigail plays on her good looks and innocent and fragile facade. She also is more polite and respectful towards the Queen, although she doesn't care for her at all, the oposite of the aggressive and outspoken Sarah. If she didn't have these traits, I doubt she would remain a favorite for long. Probably she wouldn't have gone so far is Sarah hadn't mistreated her and threatened to send her back in the streets with the first notice of the Queen's liking to her. But the cousins are the same on a basic level. The real winner of the film is Sarah though. Abigail remained typically a servant, always obligated to obey the Queen, because even when she got her title back, she could never go above her and coulnd't stand up for herself like the dynamic Sarah did, and Queen Anne is forched in a pleasureless relationship knowing deep down that Sarah loved her and Abigail pretends.

I love this scene, and Stone is hilariously tragic! Her sitting down crying, looking ever so childish-- but don't be fool, she's truly a "viper!" My favorite Stone role to date, and I love Easy A and Birdman

What I loved about this movie (among many things) was that it illustrates how power shifts back and forth in interpersonal relationships. More often than not in stories like these, the Queen will hold ultimate power in all things and her sycophants and advisors will just be depicted as helpless victims suffering under a power imbalance (imagine how we today depict a celebrity who screws his/her employees). But the Queen's vulnerabilities are used for others' benefit and she is at times manipulated and controlled by them, placing interpersonal power in her courtiers' hands. That all being said, the second a Queen realizes she has been manipulated, her political power holds the most weight. A more realistic portrait of how power is asserted in interpersonal relationships as opposed to political/financial relationships, and how they blur sometimes.

I hope Sarah doesn't knock down those books like she did in the Mummy.

Abigail and Sarah were both evil. That poor queen was used and manipulated by both of them. Sarah was very controlling and cruel.

The queen would have believed her regardless of if she had not hit herself
