I am very sorry to report that Finnish basic income pilot program is designed to produce results that show UBI will not work; it is limited to already unemployed only, it only replaces the old unemployment benefit, does not touch rent benefits which is the real killer; we have approx 30% too high rent prices after rent control was demolished few years ago. And last, since rent is so high, we need to apply welfare too, which is outside of this experiment.. So in the end, it is a program that has too narrow sample size (some talks have been about increasing it), is targeting one single demographic and does NOT cover living.

It is not UBI experiment but a smokescreen that has international press twisting their knickers on it, creating loads of publicity. And when it fails, we all lose fucking lot.

So STOP USING FINLAND AS AN EXAMPLE!!! You are doing exactly what US conservative think tanks, like Heritage foundation (look for ties between finnish conservative coalition and various US think tanks.. they are ..interesting.... ) want, spreading the knowledge how the top ten progressive dream country ultimately fails it's experiment, it is designed to fail.

I urge you to look for yourself on this experiment and how it is deviced. UBI is not "not having to apply one benefit".. Benefit that btw, allows working already, you don't lose you unemployment benefits for part time work. You lose rent and welfare.. The two that our "UBI" does not touch.. So instead of praising us, please send your "fuck you"s to Finnish Government.

We, as a country have so poor self-esteem, self image as a country that any kind of praise or mock from international sources has 100 times the effect to our own citizens. Look, we had NO CLUE that we were #1 in PISA rankings, we honestly thought that we have less than average schooling system. This is truth, our national sense of self is so poor that we always assume we are near developing country. So more noise you make, the more effect it has; we already had the talks about sample size increase after just minor concerns mentioned in few small, basically blogs.. Our press can shout, we can shout but you just mentioning it makes difference. This is one of the first high publicity projects that international press has some interest on.. ;) Usually our tests are not mentioned until the results have come in, or after 20 decades of results, like our school system... I belong to the firsts generations to enjoy improved schools and boy.. they are awesome.

Keep fighting and keep everyone honest :)

Tax automation. Any company that is using a machine that is automated (does not require a human to operate it) tax the employer on what a human would make doing that job. What would the payroll tax have been if a human did the job? The employer must pay this payroll tax which will go into the basic income fund. The more automation there is the higher the basic income check becomes.
