For example, Mark asked us, "I am 87 years old. I’ve had an aortic valve replacement in July. I then needed a MitraClip in October. Now, I have been diagnosed with severe mitral valve regurgitation again. I am investigating less-invasive surgical treatments. I feel like I’m a walking time bomb. Do you have any data on mortality for age groups?"

To answer that question, we interviewed Dr. Marc Gerdisch, Chief of Cardiac Surgery at Franciscan Health in Indianapolis, Indiana. Dr. Gerdisch is a heart valve expert having performed over 4,000 heart valve repair and replacement operations.

I just found your video, so asking a question one year later..! You are so right, my mother is living with unbelievable fear that she will die anytime! She is 79 years old, has Mitral Valve Prolapse, but no other health problems. It s amazing that she never had high blood pressure and for this reason alone she thinks she might not have a leaking Val. We would like your opinion on this very much, please.
